English: Seven Bordeaux Barrel is a very rich Russian Imperial Stout, brewed in October 2008 by 7 of the best brewers in Denmark as a pooling of their individual recipes for the beer. After primary fermentation, this fraction of the brew was racked into an American oak barrel from a Bordeaux winery. After 7 (!) months in the barrel, the beer is intensely complex, full bodied with protruding vanilla, oaky and roasted aromas and flavours. Bitter, dry and smooth on the palate with a long vanilla aftertaste.

Bottle. Pure oil coupled with a mighty brown head. Rich aroma of vanilla, chocolate and cream. Taste is insanely smooth, powerful coffee, mild chocolate. Aftertaste is slightly astringent with some bitter tones, a great way to balance the intial velvet force.

Bottle share at Paul’s 10K, many thanks to Scopey. Bottled 2008 at 12%, "Limited Release #1". Oily black with no head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, sweet vanilla, red wine and raspberry tart. Lovely. Body is medium, smooth, oily. Taste is chocolate, red wine, port wine, quite dry towards the finish with some tannins. Fantastic.

Bottle shared in London during Scopey’s 10k tasting - thanks to Scopey. Pours oily black with a bubbly brown head. Lots of scorched wood in the aroma, dark fruits, baking cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with ashy roast, dry wood, bitter dark chocolate, old leathery berries, raisins. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more charcoal, bitter cocoa, scorched earth, dried berries. Great depth. Has aged nicely.

Bottle shared at my 10K tasting. It pours darkest brown with pretty much no head. The nose is rich, oily, umami, vinous, jammy berry, rich red wine, vanilla, sweet wood, toasted coconut and light oxidised notes. The taste is rich, oily, charred wood, tarmac, chewy, salted liquorice, wood, vinous, tannins, burnt toast, dark chocolate, drying, mild astringency and umami with a rich, toasty finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rich, good depth and just rather drinkable.

Bottle split at Scopey 10K, thanks to Bropey, 26/11/15. Black with tan spotting that soon dissipates to thin edgeing. Nose is rich dark fruit, light spice, toffee, chocolate, light charr, mellow wine barrel, fruit cake, red berry linger. Taste comprises rich roasted tones, fruit cake, chocolate, toffee fudge, dates, raisens, spice, mellow barrel, light black pepper trace. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a touch of booze. Solid impy, has held up well.

Bottle at DBF2014. Black with a small tan. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, heavy notes of red wine barrel, vanilla, wood, licorice, dark fruits, red wine, coffee). Flavor like described, really complex, some warming alcohol. Full body.

Bottle. Pours like ink with a brown head. Aroma is very rich with wine notes, dark fruits and black currants, chocolate and vanilla, burnt sugar, a brownie note, toasted hazelnuts. A hint of oxidation from the aging. Gorgeous aroma! The taste is also very rich on the wine notes; tannins, black currant notes, oakiness, lots of sweetness, but still rather dry in the finish. Notes of dark chocolate and coffee, datk sugar and figs. Complex malt. Light roasted sourness in the finish, lingering oak and chocolate. Such a beautiful beer!

37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a small tan head that leaves a little lacing. Aroma is dark fruits, red wine, vanilla, liquorice, roasted malt, and coffee. Flavour is much like the aroma – with some warming alcohol and a bitter finish.

Bottled in June 2009. Poured rich, inky near-black with just a spotty dusting of dark brown head.. seemed to be high viscosity. The aroma knocked it out of the park.. rich chocolates, vanilla, licorice, and toasted biscuity malts were laced by Port wine, Bordeaux, and oak barrel.. quasi-warm, but no more than it should’ve been considering the ABV.. loved it! The flavor found near-burnt licorice and black malt at the core, with tasty vanilla and bitter, not that pleasant oxidation around and throughout.. some redder vinous character and toasted oak around.. finished dry with a lot of oak and earthy bitterness plus some coffee. Heavy-bodied and a tad syrupy on the palate.. unfortunately sharp and bitter in a few places where it didn’t need to be.. this was very good, but was probably better a couple years ago.
