Intergalactic Fantastic Oak Aged Stout
The irony of existentialism, the parody of being and the inherent contradictions of post-modernism, all so delicately conveyed by the blocky, pixelated arcade action have all been painstakingly recreated in this bottles contents.

This imperial stout is brewed with copious amounts of speciality malts, jasmine and cranberries. After fermentation we then dry-hop this killer stout with a bucketload of our favourite hops before carefully ageing the beer on French toasted oak chips.

It is all about moderation. Everything in moderation, including moderation itself. What logically follows is that you must, from time, have excess. This beer is for those times.

Bottle, thank you Colin and Kendra! Finally trying it! Pitch black, very little head. Really inviting oak aroma mixed with some roast and a lot of alcohol. Silky smooth mouthfeel. First taste is quite mild - all sweet stout and oak - gives way to lots of warming alcohol and roast and finally to ear warming alcohol in very long finish. Man, this is quite easy to drink at this crazy percentage. I hate using the word smooth, but this just feels smooth - perfect really. Everything is expertly balanced. Every brewer attempting to do a oak aged version of a beer should be required to try this. So much flavour, so complex, so good. So glad I got to try it.

Dark dark brown, with a brown and fairly fast dissapearing head. Smells of wood, vanilla, bit sourish smell, perhaps from the cranberries. Aroma of, well, this is going to be a list : wood, vanilla, caramel, malts, port, marzepin, chocolate, coffee, whisky, dark fruits, licorice. Sweet taste which slowly turns into a more bitter finish that lingers for minutes. Less alcohol tatse then I expected with the massive 18.2%, tastes more like a 10% beer. Also not as much imperial stout taste as I expected, some of the aromaís remind me more of a rochefort 10 then an imperial stout. Highly recommended to try it at least once, perhaps just because itís such a complex and somewhat bizarre beer. One of the best beers Iíve had untill now.

Pours black with small head that quickly disappears. Aromas are malty. Malts over malts. Taste is sweet, with notes of malts, and some hops. Mostly chocolate and sweet malts. Palate is somewhat acidic. Quite a bizzare beer. But itís bizzare times. This beer is for those times.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a little sediment and a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are dried fruit, vanilla, roasted malt, oak, chocolate, and alcohol - with an alcoholic finish.

Can only compare this to WWW and I can see why this one leaves the planet and goes for intergalactic domination, itís better all around, superb aroma, so deep and vinous, and slightly sour, and just so thick and rich, but mainly , this beer is very drinkable , very enjoyable, not just a crazy one offf experience. Split it with a friend. Cranberries, who knew.

A stout on massive steroids. A mere drop on the tongue explodes in oak laced licorice, dark roasted coffee flavor on the tongue.

330ml brown 2014 years vintage bottle rated 16.5% ABV, poured into a snifter glass. Appearance is opaque brownish-black with small brown head that dissipated quickly. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, oak wood notes, muscovado and soy sauce. Flavours of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, liquorice, raisins, prunes, oak wood notes, coffee and spices. Taste is heavy sweet and medium bitter. Palate is full bodied, thick texture and flat carbonation. BrewDog Tokyo* is a little too sweet and syrupy, the 16.5% alcohol volume is however not noticeable in the flavour. A quite palatable but expensive one-off experience

dark motor oil pour brown head. Aroma of caramel, oak, cranberries, soy, doppelbock big malt. Tastes wood, leather, slight lactic tart, slight cranberry tart, big alcohol, big caramel, soy slight char. Spritzy yet light carb. heavy palate. hits with the subtlety of a sledge. jasmine gets drowned.

Basically the same recipe as the first batch, but with a lot more alcohol. Creamy beige head, decreasing but leaving a rim around the edge of the glass, much more stable than expected from a beer this strong; colour black, with ruby hue only visible under (very) bright light. Unbelievably complex and overwhelming, yet appealing aroma of dozens of things, including banana, coffee, chocolate, cocoa powder, vanilla, soy sauce, caramel, pear syrup, whisky, kahlua, raisins, cinnamon, pepper,... Equally powerful taste, sweet and slick, very profound maltiness, truckloads of caramel and chocolate, so many things going on in the palate including vivid spicy notes and gentle candied fruits, very thick and oily mouthfeel, powdery too, smoothly merging into a very complex, roasted, hoppy, vinous finish with warming alcohol, which - much to my surprise - manages to stay a lot less astringent than in many beers half its strength. I almost fell off my chair tasting this, the aroma is downright superb. I can hardly grasp where this brewery keeps inventing such masterpieces... Unforgettable experience.

Black color with brown notes and a beige short lasting head. Aroma is complex, liquorish, with dark fruits and coffee. Taste is very sweet, with cranberries, toffee, licorice and vanilla. Full bodied and with dry finish. Canít find the hops at all. A bit unbalanced aftertaste, with clearly alcoholic touches. Extreme and complex.

Taste first in 16,5% bottle (was a short version in System Bolaget??) Dark, almost black espresso color, quite liquid with minimal brown head. The aroma is caramel, chocolate. The taste extremely sweet. Not my style at all... Very full body, oily texture, flat carbonisation and abrupt finish (sweet anyhow) Overall, a bit too extreme. Could have appreciated it, even without liking the kind of beer, but in this case it is so extreme that it is difficult to rate better ... Maybe will rerate with the 18,2 version in the cellar now, but it canít ne much different ... Or?
