COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2009 Beer Lover’s Choice Contestant - Sample A. Similar to a traditional Czech Pilsner, our Samuel Adams Pils is brewed with a blend of 5 Noble Hop varieties from each of the world’s only remaining Noble Hop growing regions. The spicy, herbal and citrus hop character is well balanced by the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, adding honeyed malt character and full body without sweetness.

You go Sam Adams! This is a very nice pilsner up there with Prima Pils, & Sunshine Pils but more refined, mellowed for mass drinkability, but man they nailed this one. Nice golden pour with a decent head. Fresh yummy noble hops all over this one, nice clean malts. Very Authentic! Prost.

Light murky golden. Bit fruit punch on the nose. As others said it’s maybe more golden ale than pils. This a bit old, hops dwindled and is drinking more with a honey note..

Appearance: Crisp, pale yellow with a thick frothy head. Lacing is strong and thick. Smell: Cherries, grapes and grassy notes at the forefront. Tanginess in the middle with a light overall odor Taste: Grassy with a bitter middle. Overall, not much there. Mouthfeel: Like a pilsner should be, light but present on the tongue. Probably the most redeeming quality of this beer. Overall, I was unimpressed. I picked this up as part of Sam Adam’s Summer Style 12 pack and this was the best. The taste was lacking for a beer boasting all of the Noble Hops. I’ll let the uninitiated have all the Sam A’s.

Pours bronze with thick white leaving lots of lacing. Nice aroma of hops and malt. Was expecting very bitter hops, pleasantly surprised with balanced maltiness and and a nice refreshing hops.

355ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light gold, with a small white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves a small amount of lacing. Malt, not hops, notes dominate the aroma, with some pleasant caramel and fresh white bread notes, supported by some mild citrus and floral hops - it smells more like an English golden ale than a pilsener! Mandarin orange hops up front give way to a light body, with some sweetish white bread and caramel notes. It is in the finish, however, that the noble hops assert themselves, offering up a mass of floral and sweet citrus flavours which create a lovely, lingering aftertaste. This beer is like no plisener I have ever had before, but it is nevertheless a fresh, light-bodied beer which would indeed, with its veritable garden of hop flavours, be a perfect spring drink.

Pours hazy gold with a small, lasting white head. Nose shows spicy, floral hops, soft caramel and faint fruity and doughy yeast. Flavours inlcude honey, spicy hops, herbal notes and more soft doughy yeast. Finishes with a mild bitterness. Carbonation could be just a little higher.

The aroma is very floral. The appearance is a clear gold with the thinnest of head. The floral and citrus hops hit up front but the beer finishes clean and fairly flavorless. It doesn’t quite balance itself out. It is very light and drinkable - I would just prefer a bit more flavor left on the palate. Ok.

Pours a very pale color with high carbonation very thin head but great lacing. Bitter hops in the aroma with a taste that follows the nose. Light and refreshing with low alcohol. Goes in line with what I e come to expect from the style, not the greatest beer in the world but I’d take it over an adjunct lager all day.

A very worthy beer indeed. It’s become one of my favorite seasonal beers. It should be year-round. This edited review is of this beer very fresh off the shelves. Pours a clear deep golden color with visible carbonation, a fairly good head that lasted, and great, thick sheets of awesome lacing that’s oh so noticeable when the beer is fresh. It has a slightly grassy, fairly hoppy, somewhat malty and ever so slightly bitter aroma. Smells lovely, like a summer bike ride in upstate NY when you’re a child. Taste is just great. A complex hop profile with malts, grain, flowers, citrus and spice. Nicely balanced flavors that show off the quality of this very fine beer. One of Sam Adams best I’ve had. Feels crisp, clean, light and refreshing, yet still full-bodied. Mildly bitter aftertaste is not overpowering. Dry, but still refreshing. Drinkability is very good. A regular beer that works on a hot summer day as well as a cold winter evening. The complexities in the taste and aroma make this a well spent about $8 every time. Sam Adams, please turn this one into a year-round offering. SA does pilsners so very well.

Bottle shared in courtesy of Amundsen-Tom, thanks
Golden with a white head. Smells of citrus, tea, grass and malts. Light malt taste, light sweet, quite crisp mouthfeel. Soft carbonation, light body. Nice medium bitter finish, quite hoppy, grassy and with nice resins. Not often you get that nice hops in a pilsener. Nice crafted
