COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A fitting beer for The Night Of The Living Dead, This Black Stout is chock full of roasty goodness, with an amazing complexity that can only come from the addition of five different types of malts. The flavors of dark crystallized malts and roasted barley warm the pallet and the distinct spicy phenolic character and inviting esters, derived from the Belgian yeast.

From notes. One of the better offerings from the odd notion series. Pours out a black hue, coffee head. Aromas are muddled cocoa, vanilla, and malt. Palate is decently smooth until it hits a wall with a bitter cocoa finish. Fluffy and light, I would have actually rather seen this in the winter pack or as a reoccuring offering.

Chocolatey and a bit smokey aroma. Smokey, deep bitter chocolate. Black in color.

Pours dark brown with no real head to speak of. Sort of a chocolate syrup aroma with some roasted malts. Basic chocolate and roasted flavors. Nothing that gives it a Belgian slant. Oily, fuller body. Balanced finish.

Pours very dark brown with an orange / brown head that leaves quickly. The aroma has roasted malt, cocoa, cream and mild duds. Medium / thin body with a ton of prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with roasted malt and some peppery traits, some green apple and a bit of metallicness The finish reminds me of copper. Okay, but nothing I’ll need again.

12oz bottle. Dark brown pour, brown head. Sweet aroma of chocolate malt, chocolate cake with fudge icing. Flavor of cocoa, dark chocolate, black patent, burnt grains, coffee roast. A very pleasant surprise. Deep, dark, chocolately roast. One of the better Magic Hat. It’s no Lucky Kat!

Draft at Capone’s. Dark brown pour with off-tan head and nose of dark malt, some dark choc, figgy fruit. Medium palate heft, with predominant dark malt, dark chocolate, and some fruity notes. Decent.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but all Magic Hat beers tend to taste like Magic Hat. Darker pour. Some floral chocolate taste and nose. 4/4/10
