COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer Cuvée des Jacobins is unblended old lambic, aged for at least 18 months in (French) oak barrels from the cognac region. These oak barrels are called ’Foeders’ in Dutch. It has a robust character but is beautiful and sophisticated with a full body and overtones of vanilla, dried cherry, stone fruit and cocoa. It is a complex, beautiful sour beer.

Pours a nearly opaque reddish brown with a small off white head. Aroma is tart cherries, green apples, and wheat. The taste starts out cherry sweet, then green apple tart and finishes nearly vinegar sour. Very good lambic/sour.

Flaska. Konjaksfärgad med ett litet smutsvitt skum som snart försvinner. Dofter av körsbär, jäst, jord och nejlika. Smakinslag av körsbär, citrus, julkryddor och trä. Torr munkänsla, fruktig avslutning. Njutning!

Decent malty background some cherry tartness, oak, caramel, dried fruits, kinda light roastiness. Moderate sourness with moderate to light sweetness, quite dry finish. Refreshing and highly enjoyable sipper.

Smells weird, kind of like a typical sour red mixed with minerals. Taste is pretty sour with intense lactic and acetic sourness. Medium sharp carbonation with light to medium body.

330ml bottle from trade with JefVerstraete. Many thanks! Pours a deep red with bubbly pink head. Simply gorgeous. Perfectly balanced with a soft fruitiness, robust sourness and cheek sucking tartness. An absolute joy to savour.

Taster at whole foods. Pretty great sour. Complex and balanced with a pleasantly sour finish. Pours a pleasant warm hued reddish brown. Definite warmth from the oak and vanilla and nice fruit notes (cherry, raspberry) round it out. Caramel, green apple and a dose of vinegar. Super solid lambic. Plays the balance card perfectly. One to drink and ponder. Note to self- buy some quality aged cheese and pair with this.
