4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours a deep plum red with a light tan head. Aromas of oaky vanilla, cranberries, cherries, hints of peppery barnyard, and slight acidity. Perfect medium light body, that finishes crisp and blows your taste buds into heavenly oblivion with flavors of: sour cherries, cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, lots of balanced acidity (lactic and just enough acetic), tons of tannins from the wood, and a bit of barnyard all balanced out by some residual malty sweetness. In my opinion this is the best Flemish Red I’ve ever had and one of my favorite beers. This would be killer with goat cheese, cheesecake, foie gras, or lobster.

Bottle @ home. Ramata con riflessi rubino, limpida. Schiuma beige fine di brevissima persistenza. Aroma intenso, fruttato, di frutti rossi, ribes e lampone ed amarene, aceto, polvere, vaniglia e cacao in polvere. Gusto acido, intenso, amabilmente dolce, poco/nulla amaro. Finale lunghissimo. Astringente sulle gengive, spigolosa, calda ma non alcolica. Corposa e di carbonatazione fine ma decisa. Equilibrata ed estremamente armonica.

Crystal clear, deep red-brown, no head. Aroma of sour cherries, wine, oak, balsamico vinegar, burnt sugar, and a hint of vanilla. Taste is incredibly sour; delicious. The mouthfeel is light, and the carbonation is moderate. Long aftertaste with balsamico and wine-like notes.

Bottle. It poured a dark reddish/amber color with an off-white head. The aroma was of tart dark red fruits, some cherries, oak and acidity. The taste was similar to the aroma with more sourness, tartness, oak, vanilla and cherries. Good stuff.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2015 One of my absolute favourites, especially given how cheap it is in my area -- the bang for the buck ratio is insane. Dark red with a nice whitish head. Aroma: a bit weak initially, but gets stronger after a few minutes in the glass; cherries, light smoke, vanilla, fruity, somewhat funky. Medium body. Sweet-sour taste, sour cherries, plums, hints of vanilla. Vinous. Strong dry finish. Overall: very enjoyable, balanced and complex.
