Reviewed back in 2009 - Aloha Plenty pours a deep dark brown. Almost black. A huge tan head is poured but disappears to what you see above. The aroma on this porter is fantastic. Espresso up front with a nice sweet chocolate presence. As you let the beer warm up a little you’ll notice some of the coconut. This beer is also brewed with macadamia nuts. The nutty aroma comes out just a little bit in the end. It’s not huge and is barely noticeable. The mixture of the espresso and sweetness is what makes the beer smell so damn good.
The taste is out of this world too. Just like in the smell, at the beginning of this beer you are going to get the coffee/espresso taste. As the beer hits the back of your throat, the chocolate pops in. As it warms up the coconut plays more of a roll. It sits back there with the chocolate to make a great combination. The beer is definitely more balanced as it gets warmer. Now I said above, the mouthfeel might just steal the show here. It’s thick, very thick, and creamy. It just coats the mouth and throat. Easily the best mouthfeel in any porter I’ve ever had.

Well the last bottle I had about a year ago was totally infected drain pour :( When this was fresh it was awesome with lots of coffee grinds and roast with a nice coconut finish.

12oz bottle, $7 from Dutch’s bottle shop. Very dark brown color, a minimal brown head. Light, smooth carbonation, nice roasty aftertaste. Really interesting, complex, and deep aroma. Some clarity. Great aroma... Awesome but not overpowering coffee, some sweet roastiness, and some other stuff in there... Very tasty and drinkable brew. I wish I had much more of this ( I’m envious of the collaborators [as I picture them] drinking this stuff by the case, as they enjoy the beautiful Maui weather ). Roasty sweet taste, with some good coffee bitterness. Another fantastic Stone collaboration. A six-pack of this stuff would be what dreams are made of.

Bottle:   Nearly black, super dark brown, moderate to large beige head frothy, nice lacing.   Sweet
roasted malt nose, slight coconut and cocoa.   Sweet nutty caramel infused cocoa and coconut chocolate goodness on
the tongue.   This is quite tasty.   Hop aspect is low.   Sweet start, coconut and cocoa, has a bit more
hop bite on the backside.   Not heavy, not light, feels just right.   Has a smidgen of chocolate covered
cherries at the exit, at least the sweet bits within a chocolate covered cherry.   Very slight alcohol presense.
  Pretty good stuff!

Bottle shared by Mike. Poured a nearly opaque dark brown color with a tan head. Coconut, coffee, cocoa, and brown sugar smells. Medium bodied and slightly sweet with moderate carbonation. Coconut, vanilla, chocolate, and roasted nut flavors.

Finally found one of these elusive creatures, but pricey at 9 dollars for a 12 oz bottle.
Pours a solid black with a two finger mocha head that slowly dissipates to a cap. Smells of fudge, chocolate and coffee mostly. Slight dark fruit in the background. Traces of vanilla and alcohol round out the nose. I don’t pick up any coconut or macadamia in the aroma. Taste is coffee and dark chocolate up front, bitter roast that melds into coconut, finishing semi dry with a long lingering roasted grain and coconut finish. Creamy sticky mouthfeel, thick body with a semi dry finish, light carbonation. I really enjoyed this one. I was a little nervous because I really hate coconut, but its subtle enough in here that I could actually appreciate it and I think it works really well.
