Pours rich deep black brown. Head is a rich milk chocolate froth of small bubbles that quickly disappears. Nose is restrained rich deep chocolate notes. Taste is sweet dark chocolate bitters with just a hint of honey sweetness. The rich dark chocolate flavor broadens on the finish. A staggeringly good beer.

Sampled at a bottleshare. Black color. Thin dark brown head, fades to a ring. Leaves some lace. Dark fruit in the nose. Honey, cocoa powder. Big body. Creamy, velvety texture. Light carbonation. Bitter sweet taste. Some alcohol warmth in the finish, not at all bothersome. Really tasty - great texture. Nice, unique stuff

660ml bottle (Snow@ChrisO)
Black, tight tan head. Odd aroma - brazil nuts wth chocolate coating? That and alcohol. Thick creamy palate, a bit fatty and slick. Pretty decent roast, but too sugary.

2011 bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to Bruce. It pours very dark brown with a small light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, tar, coffee, dark honey, soy sauce, toasted sesame seed, caramel and espresso. The taste is roasted malt, espresso, earth, burnt wood, dark chocolate, charcoal, toasted coconut and some soy sauce with a dry finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Pretty smooth and hides the alcohol well. Not bad, but I dislike the soy-sauce aspect.

Aged this one about a year and thought it was DAMN GOOD. Pours black with tan head and nearly no carbonation or lacing. It’s thick without being too sweet or syrupy, lots of chocolate cocoa, roasty, hazlenut, and maybe a little anise. Coffee is present throughout, especially in the finish. Very good.

Bottle from Sam - thanks! Black pour with a quickly fading tan head. Aroma is thin cocoa, light char, smoke, chocolate, and minimal malt sweetness. Taste is thin cocoa, light hop bitterness, ash, bitter chocolate, and some roast. Thin mouthfeel. Slightly different take on the style. Okay.
