Nov 12, 2009 Like a chocolate coffee ipa. Also some floral-ness and grapefruit. Delicious. Sweetness is at the right level, its not overpowering, ashiness is minimal, and it is very unique. Maybe not that unique - but it is way more successful than other hoppy dark beers I’ve tried. A good thing to drink the day before you go to the frickin VIRGIN ISLANDS with Erin, dammit! Jealous? Yeah, you are.

Near-black with a nice beige head that drops quickly. Nose is a fantastic balance of bitter roasted malt, like coffee, and as strong a milk chocolate as I’ve smelled in a beer. Flavor is milky and roasty, but the coffee hits wonderfully in the back half and continues through the finish. A little green and thin, the body could use a light boost. Not incredibly complex, but this kind of balance from FFF is stunning, and the lack of sugar overkill is equally as impressive. Total enjoyment.

Nov 3, 2009 Pours a very dark red. lasting head with consistent lacing. The hops took a backseat to the strong roasted malts. Thin. No sweetness. Enjoyable.

Oct 23, 2009 Bottle thanks to shawn. Black pour with some tan head. Coffee, chocolate, sugar, roasted malts, some vanilla and hop notes. Velvety smooth porter with a slight alcohol warming, this is well done, kind of wish i waited til Christmas to drink it.

Oct 22, 2009 22 oz bottle thanks to Vince. Pours black with a huge bubbly tan head. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, pine resin and vanilla. The flavor is bittersweet chocolate with a healthy amount of hop bitterness. Full body with a foamy thick soft mouth feel and a long chocolaty finish. This is last years so it’s not as hopy as I’ve heard it’s supposed to be. Regardless, this is a great Porter, now I’ve got to get my hands on a fresh one.

Sep 28, 2009 Bottle. Christmas came a little early for my this weekend. Santa was very good to me indeed. Wrapped up inside this gift was a jet black body with a tight tan head. Notes of chocolate, dark sugars, roasted malts and winter spices. Smooth and creamy. I’m glad the holidays are right around the corner so I can pick up another one of these.

Sep 27, 2009 22 oz. bottle shared at Logan’s 2009 pre-GABF Party. Cola-like pour. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove aromas. Light chocolate, toffee, and nutmeg flavors. Thin palate. Alcohol not really present. Good.

Sep 16, 2009 22oz bottle 9/16/09 (Binny’s Naperville)-Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of hops, rioasted malt, chocolate, and slight coffee. Taste of hops followed by the roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. This medium bodied brew is very well balanced and quite taste. Great little twist on the Porter style. Great Brew.
