COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While for the classic "Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier" traditionally beech has been - and still is - used, the malt for "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is kilned with Oak wood. The resulting Schlenkerla Oak Smoke Malt has a smoother and more multi layered smoky note than the intensely aromatic Beech Smoke Malt. The hence complex smokiness in the "Schlenkerla Oak Smoke" is paired with the multifaceted bitterness of finest Hallertau aroma hops. With 8% alcohol and amber color it matures for months in the deep brewery cellars underneath Bamberg into a special treat for smoke beer lovers. www.Smokebeer.com

Pint bottle. It’s hard to not rate a beer highly when it lives up to what it says it is. As stated, deep amber color with a thin white head, but the smokiness is there from the first sniff, and the taste does not disappoint. This was my first "smoke beer" and I’m glad to say the smokiness is not overpowering yet very much evident, or I might have been put off by the style. Very, very nice.

From a 500ml bottle on 15/5/2016. Pours a clear light amber with a biggish head. Has a pleasant light smoked aroma with a bit of bacon in the mix. Flavour wise, it’s got lots of caramel and toffee malt and a hint of dark sweet fruit, but it’s the big smokey bitterness that ultimately holds sway here. The hops are quite pronounced and linger in a most satisfying manner. Full bodied, with a thickish texture and modest carbonation. Damn this is good - rich, complex unusual and most importantly, delicious. Certainly one of the best smoked beers I’ve ever had.

Od dzisiaj jestem fanem piw wedzono-dymionych. Tutaj wplyw ma drewno debowe. Piana gruboziarnista. Czuc delikatnie wedzona szynke i taki fajny zapach dymu z ogniska w lesie. Jest rowniez bardzo slodowo jak to w Kozlaku. Rownie intensywne odczucie w smaku. Kolor ciemny miedziany. Piwo klarowne. Musze sprobowac ich innych "wyrobow".

Bottle, bb 6/2016. Pours copper, clear, with white head. Aroma of smoked malts, a bit of caramel. Moderately sweet, with distinct smoky aftertaste. Medium bodied, with perfectly hidden alcohol.

Smoked fish aroma is dominant, but not heavy. Nice clear copper colour, small beige top. Caramelized herring, weeds, minerals. Some saltiness, medium bitterness, slightly dry. Doppelbock is one of my favorite types of beer and smoky beers are not - but I have only good words for this one. Great mouthfeel, excellent in alcohol. A lot of malt, piece of art!

Flasche - Kuperfarben, rotstichig, geringe Schaumkrone, klar. Typisch intensive Schinkenaromen, viel Malz. Trockener Abgang. Ein bisschen edgy finde ich, viel Alkohol, nicht richtig harmonisch eingebunden. Geht nicht leicht runter. Dennoch wunderbarer Geschmack.

From 0.5L bottle; pours dark amber, slightly reddish coloured, nearly clear with some large, floating particles and a light brown head. Aroma: smoke, malts, slightly caramel; taste: slightly smoky flavor, slightly sweet, leading to a light bitter, smoky finish. Very pleasant aroma! Not as heavy smoky as most of the Schlenkerla beers. Medium to full body, creamy texture.
