COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Oude Kriek 3 Fonteinen is produced by ripening of cherries (both the flesh and the seeds) in young Lambic. This process takes between 6 to 8 months. After bottling the beer matures for at least 4 months in a warm room where the spontaneous fermentation in the bottle is done.
The head of Oude Kriek is very sensitive to the concentration of the cherry seeds containing oil and may differ from one year to the other.
On old Cherry 3 Fonteinen, no flavorings, sweeteners, or dyes added which makes this beer very natural and is especially thirst quenching.

Note: Recent labels may show the beer to contain 35% of Schaerbeekse Krieken.

Corked and caged bottle shared with the missus. Deep red pour with a pinkish head that quickly settles. Loads of cherries, leather, vanilla with some discreet tartness. This was really good and refreshing!

Bottle shared with my sister at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. Pours slightly hazy dark red with just a slight head. Aromas of fresh cherries, stable notes, slight leather, some yeast. Taste is very fruity up front, lots of yeast, some stable notes, slight leather and some vinous notes.

750ml bottle served in a flute glass. 2006 corked bottle. A: Pours a dark rose to purple color. Cloudy. Minimum carbonation (I guess that’s due to the bottle age). Forms a very small bubbled white head with minimal retention and no lacings left S: Fruity and woody. Cherry juice. A little bit sour. Lambic yeasts T: The best part. Just perfect. A Slightly sweet fruity upfront, followed by a tart cherry pie taste. Oak and malt. In overall a dry but veeeery smooth taste. Not aggressively tart as a Cantillon, for example, giving a quite winy sensation in the mouth. M: Light but slightly smooth body. Very low carbonation. Malty and tart aftertaste O: Excellent drinkability. I would like to taste a "younger" one (this is a 6 years old bottle) to compare. Absolutely great beer. No more comments... "pretty sour and funky, but not at the expense of the cherryness til the last ounce in the bottle. brick red, nice head. vibrant horsey aroma with sweetish fruit and tart. the end was a little cheesier, but overall a very nice kriek. again, though, a one timer due to the price"

375ml bottle (June 6, 2013) in a tulip. Pours deep purple/pink with a pinkish, quickly dissipating head. Aroma of sourness, light funk, cherries, light malts, and hints of an earthy note. Flavor the same with lots of sourness and cherries and some funk. Average texture. A really cool kriek.

Dark cherry color. Subtle fruit aroma, classic lambic tartness. Great dry, complex, tart aroma. Great mouthfeel, strong carbonation. Not easy to drink, though, but this brew is really something.

Deep cloudy cherry red...has a wonderful cherry sour cherry nose. Very little to no head. What little there is really works well with the consistensy of the mouthfeel. The cherries just pop...Great brew!!!

Bottle @ home 20140905. Hazy red with a small pink head. Aroma of cherries and oak, with lots of barnyard. Taste is similar, with a refreshing medium sourness.
