Following the trail of strong Belgium Christmas beer, this one is very similar to a five spice cake only liquid form. Seven delightful spices blend themselves to the alcohol and sugar, enabling a warming and joyful feeling for the festive season. Strong liquorice, orange and grape flavours create an explosion of creamy foam.. The lasting mouth feel is one of comforting alcohol, liquorice and orange.

A FANTASTIC beer! Dark brown with some small tan head. Smells like a christmas spice cake, cloves, star anise, a bit sweet. Palate is medium-heavy with some smooth good carbonation. Taste is spicy, some candied fruit. I feel like I’m drinking a spice cake. Just fantastic.

750ml bottle from La Trappe au Fromage in Gatineau, Quebec. Deep brown in colour with a large and long lasting beige head, excellent lacing. The aroma is of light spice, cake, some chocolate, light alcohol, liquorice. The flavour is sweet, warming, oranges and spice, cinnamon and liquorice, malty, noticable alcohol. Warming mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, warming and spicy. Very good stuff. An excellent winter/christmas beer.

Deep amber-brown pour. The aroma is nice and malty. A little bit of molasses and a bit of star anise flavour. There is a touch of warming character. Orange peel and dried fruit. Some special B malt and a cooling minty character as well. Lingering orangey finish. Lots of anise retronasally.

Dark brown with a nice brown head. Nutmeg, liquorice, cinammon, dark fruit. Sweet taste, just a hint of bitterness. Full body, thick brew with a average carbonation.

2013 750ml bomber from a trade, served in a tulip. A dark brown which in the light gives some mahoganey accents that complement the head of beige foam. It has a fantastic fruity nose of cinammon plums, nutmeg, figs, rich dark chocolate malts - yum. The body is ok but a bit on the thin side while the carbonation is just a bit sharp. The taste is cocoa butter, spices and dark pitted fruits. Nice. once it warms up it has a more balanced/fruity flavor with fudge like cocoa... it definitely grows on you and it is amazing how fast this bottle disappeared!

Appearance: Pours a near black. Held up to the light it resembles coca-cola quite a bit. Off-white head that dissipates to a thing layer. Leaves light lacing on the glass. Nose: You can definitely smell the alcohol coming off this one. Some bourbon undertones to it. Prunes, raisin, spices and gingerbread round out the very intense aromas. Palate: Pretty much everything from the nose repeated. It’s like gingerbread soaked in booze. A bit of orange peel on the swallow.

750ml bottle. Cloudy brown-copper body, small mocha head with good retention. Aroma of toffee, yeast, leather, autumn leaves, grapes, spices. Taste of leather, toffee, grapes liquor, cherries, yeast, booze and bitter hops towards the end. Good.

Bien riche, mousse onctueuse...
