COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Péché Mortel (French for "Mortal Sin") is an intensely black and dense beer with very pronounced roasted flavours. Fair trade coffee is infused during the brewing process, intensifying the bitterness of the beer and giving it a powerful coffee taste. Péché mortel is brewed to be savored; we invite you to drink it in moderation.

This stout style, high in alcohol and bitterness in order to favour preservation, was historically brewed to support the long and arduous voyage necessary to export the beer from England to Russia. The word Imperial comes from the fact that the beer was specially brewed for the Russian tsar’s court.

Pitch black with creamy tan foam. the strong coffee and chocolate aroma is well balanced with the malt and hop. Some dark fruit emerge after a while . Of course, the coffe dominates the overall flavor but it is really well made. Where is that 9.5%. A great brew (especially at -20 C outside...).

Strong coffee smell, almost a bit of bourbon or dark chocolate. All follow in the taste, extremely dark, rich and strong. Almost impossible to stop drinking, one of the best stouts out there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. Pours a jet black body with a medium creamy beige head. Nose is intense mocha/filter coffee tones with powdery chocolate hints. Nice, but I’d like a bit more complexity. Taste is mocha, filter coffee, dark chocolate and hints of nougat. Velvety mouthfeel which feels occasionally disrupted by bursts of carbonation. Strange. A very nice coffee-based imp stout, but I do feel it’s a bit overrated.

En riktig höjdare. Intensiv, kraftig och fyllig smak av framförallt kaffe och då menar jag kaffe på riktigt. Len och krämig och med en balanserad eftersmak. En liten efterrättspärla till stout.

Aroma, light with alcohol, roast coffee, pours black with persistent brown head with some lace. Taste coffee right up front with chocolate, malts. some alcohol comes through. Palate bitter, dry. Excellent imperial lives up to hype

(Sample from tap at CBC) Pours pitch black with medium, toffee head. Impressive retention and lace. Aroma is roasted malt, licorice, coffee and something chalky? Oily texture bordering on creamy, full body, soft carbonation and a dark, roasted finish.

Really Really nice beer. Pure black poor with slight persistant head. Strong coffee aroma comes through backed up well with toasty malts. Silky and smooth this is another awesome stout.
