4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells great. The aroma gives off mostly espresso, but has some other cream-like sweetness to balance it out. Looks great too - black with a small ring of tan foam that sticks around for the whole glass. Taste is coffee bitterness but has a slightly sweet aftertaste that belies the balance suggested in the aroma. Very drinkable for 9.5%. Palate is pretty watery, which I believe is it’s only true flaw. Coffee stouts should have their own category in RB; this is a good one.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
xtremely easy drinking, dangerously so. This "in the nude" version is as delicious and effortless as the regular version, and showcases the beer’s true virtues for those who thought nitro was masking most of its character. Back roastiness may linger longer, or appear to. This is a marvelous creation, any way you look at it.

This is as smooth as the nitroed version, but perhaps silkier. Extremely easy drinking, dangerously so. Back roastiness may linger longer, or appear to. This is a marvelous creation, any way you look at it.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
341ml bottle served in a tulip glass.
A: First of all, the most beautiful bottle art ever. Dieu du Ciel trademark. The beer pours a deep black Imperial Stout color forming a one to two fingers brown moka-style head. Thin bubbled and creamy. Retention is low but many spotty molasses lacings are left in the glass as it goes...
S: Strong roasted malts on the nose, followed by notes of coffee and dark chocolate. A bit milky with some notes of wood too
T: Follow the nose. Strong notes of roasted malts. Notes of coffee and dark chocolate. The upfront is slightly sweet becoming deliciously bitter quite quickly. Absolutely delicious roasted bitterness in the end. Again, a bit lactic and woody
M: Creamy, heavy molasses body. Low carbonation. Roasted bitterness aftertaste
O: Delicious Imperial Stout. I was expecting more coffee but, in the end an excellent experience anyway
