Clear amber colour, slight white head. Aroma of malts, honey, light red fruit, light liquorice, banana and madeira notes. Bitter flavour, orange marmelade, malts, hops, sweet malts and honey. Finish honey, sweet malts, bitter hops and madeira. Nice, bitter and aged well.

Bottle sampled @ decadent symmetry tasting. Thanks to Martinus. Reddish-orange with lace. Nose of caramel, raisin, priune, orange, chocolate. A bit oxidized, but in a good way. Nice peppery bitterness. Good.

Courtesy of Martinus. Thx! 750 ml. bottle sampled @ decadent symmetry tasting. Pours fox ruby with some white bubbles. Nose is sweet grapefruit, marmalade, toffee, caramel, touch oxidized, candy sugar & oxidized dried fruits. Taste is bitter marmalade, dried orange peel, fading bitter grapefruit, very bitter herbs in the back, offset a bit by the toffee sweet base. Less carb. very slightly syrupy, not bad stuff.

Bottle: Thanks Koen: Some airy bubbles, but no (real) head, more a frotty off white island on top of an almost clear amber colored beer. Smell barleys, barley malts, caramel, lovely mix of sweet barley malts, some spices and caramelised ingredients. Taste barleys, creamy barley malts, sweet balanced caramel, caramel malts, light toasted malts, caramelised barley malts, light chocolate, toffee, butter, hoppy sweets and some (caramelised) sugars, sweet bittter. Aftertaste is a mix of sweeter barley malts, light bitter, light spicy and some malty herbs. Low carbo, soft light spicy mouthfeel, full body and a creamy light oily texture. Very nice, smooth and tasty beer, comes in a marvelous coated bottle.

ChrisO ’Night Of The Gaylords’ tasting. Hazy brown beer, Lively fruity nose. Lightly sour malt with a rich hop depth. Marmalade orange hop. Some aniseed in the finish. A very decent brew. Well balanced.

from Erzbierschof; wins the award of the beer the most fucking difficult to open ... - pours a cloudy brown beer with no head retention; caramel, marzipan and flowery hops are building a pretty complex aroma; notes of raisins appear too; full-bodied and with a low carbonation; decently bitter and solidly malty finish; very long flowery hoppy finish with light citric notes - beautiful

75cl, Vintage 2009, at 10.7%Vol, recently retired exclusive English brew, from De Bierkoning Amsterdam, complex brew, sweet/fruity and slightly alcoholic, not too heavy, balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, good brew, yet expensive!

2010-11-29, vintage 2009, huge thanks go to fonefan for this highly wanted bottle, 8-5-7-4-15=39
Corked bottle, with a rather annoying wax-plastic. Beautiful, bright amber color, hazy; medium sized head; the thin layer that persists, later, has rather big bubbles. Very nice aroma, malt, rich, and also some fruity presence; not as strong as an American Barley Wine, but mid-Atlantic anyway. Correct body structure, but, as suspected by the fluid pour, not as thick as most Barley Wines; good caramel and toffee flavor, but not extremely rich; moderate sweetness, with a trace of sweet nuts; correct bitterness; a warming touch of alcohol in the end. Balanced and pleasant, although not vibrant.

2010-05-06, blind tasting at Yespr, 7-4-8-4-15=38
Hazy amber color, but with some particles floating around. The aroma is light, but the flavor is good caramel, sweet, a bit buttery. Quite strong bitterness. Good, if you can stand diacetyl.
