SUPERB rye grain specialty beer. Superb aroma on this one- oak, malts, a whiskey nose- super balanced and the perfect viscosity. Delicious cask notes, perfectly aged and distinctive flavor. Would jump at the chance to drink this again.

This is much sweeter than I expected. Rye sweetness really comes through almost toffee like. Not sure I would buy again at the price point but glad I tried it.

Bottle # 9660 from 2012. Trying to drink down my cellar. Dark amber pour with a reddish hue and a light tan head. Spicy with a light bourbon nose. Mellow. Nice mouthfeel. Kind of an odd astringent / tannic finish. Warm as well.

Pours a nice red amber with an off white head. Rye is evident from aroma to taste, combining with oak and hop background. Very enjoyable beer.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from tap to glass. Reddish amber hue with creamy off white head that dissipated to a decent ring. Aroma is spicy, smoky, whiskey, rye, honey. Mouthfeel is nice medium light body and good carbonation. Taste is dry sweetness with a smoky astringent following and an ethanol finish. Overall this is a damn fine wonderful brew! I’m a fan.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at 16 Tons Cafe, Eugene. Pours a translucent reddish brown, small amount of tan head. Aroma well balanced, grain and booze come through, maybe some cherries, too. Body lively and full, only slightly hot. Good, but not a 100.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Special Brews. Pours a hazy light brown color with a medium off white head that leaves light lacing. Smells of rye, whiskey, oak, and more rye. Tastes of sweet rye, toast, whiskey, and oak, and spices. Mouthfeel is silky and slightly creamy with good carbonation. Awesome rye barrel aged rye beer. Super sweet and boozy but I in a good way. Oak and rye spiciness mellow it. Definitely a sipper. Like to see what age does to it.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy golden brown from the bottle with thin bubbly off-white head. Aroma is mostly the wood and boozy bourbon. Taste follows, big vanilla notes with a hint of spice from the rye, definitely a barrel aged beer. A hint of burn on the way down, bubbly carbonation, sticky mouth. Pretty solid, very it gets even better with age.

Smell is light and sweet. Looks amazing nice red color. Little carbonation. Taste is smooth and very boozy. Definitely a sipper. Palate is the same as taste. Maybe too boozy. Overall a very nice beer. The booziness works well.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle generously traded to me by Clark. Aroma is wonderful with mostly just Rye Whiskey and malt...maybe a hint of oak and peach? Pours red with a giant and pervasive head. Took a while to pour a whole glass because that head just doesn’t go anywhere. Taste is malty goodness with some rye bread, rye whiskey, and a slight nutty almond finish. Mouthfeel is very carbonated and a little too sweet. Didn’t end up finishing the glass as a result but I also could’ve not been in the mood. Good stuff overall.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ruby/amber pour with an off-white head. Aromas of oak, rye, and whiskey. Flavor is malty upfront with lots of whiskey and oak notes. Finish has some caramel notes to it with the oak barrel sweetness coming through. Nice and complex, a well made brew.
