A style of beer curiously born on the foggy shores of Father Junipero Serra’s first founding mission. Our own vigorous entry is one rebellious IPA, quick on the trigger, and brimming with a bounty of hop ingenuity. This is a big, bold, brazen beer, a restless vision of a new America.

UPDATED: NOV 16, 2012 Man this thing great. Really handcrafted taste here. A soft mellow honey flavor to balance out the beautiful bouquet of hops. Wow wow wow. One of the best. Really it’s almost a barleywine. Barley wine sweetness. This is a badass beer man.

Bottle at home. Aroma of ripe tropical fruits, malt, biscuit, pine resin, orange, hops. Flavour is just over moderate sweet with a moderate to medium bittersweet finish. Body is medium to full. A rather malty IIPA, but well-rounded and smooth drink.

12oz saved from BI’s city piping by idiosynkrasie, merci! Straightforward, near-honey-drip yelloworange pour. Both damp resins, catty pine, piercing alcohol and a good helping of those crystal malts cheaply refined sugars...like Aldi-canned orange jam. Not sure how fresh this made it over, but supposedly a DIPA holds its massed of fleeting hop oils up a tad longer? Taste is crystal malt-forward as well, typical West Coast damp resins, preserved quince peel jam and not all that much fleshier fruits. Nevertheless admirably clean, despite the obvious abv wafts, and downable.

Pours perfectly clear, deep amber color. 3 fingers slightly off-white head which quickly drops down leaving very nice lacing. Sweet, fruity and malty aroma with a bit of honey and alcohol. In taste it’s mostly alcoholic. Massive alcohol notes for the whole taste. In the background a bit of malts and fruits. In the aftertaste only alcoholic bitterness, not very pleasant. It warms your palate and throat immediately, leaving long aftertaste of alcohol. It’s rather poor quality Imperial IPA.

Heldere oranje bruine kleur met een goede kraag. Ruikt zoetig, fruitig, hop, orange. Smaakt fruitig, zoetig, hop, bittere afdronk. Aardig, niet bijzonder.

(Mission Shipwrecked Double IPA) Bottle 355 ml at home, served into a shaker, ABV 9.25%, hopefully this will send me to bed. Deep orange copper colour on the body, clear. Little bit of activity in it. Small and a bit thin white head on top, with average retention. Aroma of caramel, alcohol, citrus, biscuit. Taste begins sweet, with caramel malts, soon enough turns to bitter, with tropical fruits, mango, citrus, light alcohol, faint pine on the finish. Medium body, nicely carbonated. Pretty good!

Bottle from Geers. Clear amber colour, white foam. Nose of caramel, honey, citrus and pineapple. Bitter hoppy finish. Well balanced. Good.

Koper oranje helder bier met een goede witte schuim kraag. Ruikt zoet, fruitig, kruidig, beetje zeep en chloor. Smaakt zoet fruit, hops, goed bitter.
