UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Pitch black and big tan bubbly head. Surprisingly fresh aroma with pine, resin, even some citrus, along the rustic earthy body. Taste is a fine balancing act between those abundant fresh hops and a stighly roasted background. Very interesting and unlike the vast majority of stouts, but most of all it works wonders. Amazing brew. Was hard to pair with food. (33cl bottle) (Rating re-indexed)

75 bottle @ home. Pours dark brown with some sediment and a large mocha head that fades leving some lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, hops, and something tart I can’t really put my finger on. Taste is hoppy with some roasted malt as well.

On tap with Scott at Farmers Cabinet. Pours a dark black, with off white medium head. Aromas of bitter cascade hops, roasted grain, dark cocoa, fruity motueka. Taste is cocoa nibs, columbus pine, spice, sticky caramel, wood. A nice change of pace for a stout. Tons of hop resins present.

On tap at Armsby abbey stoutfest. I hated this beer. It reminded me of "OFF" bug spray. The hops were a bad chemically mixture and the stout aspect of the beer was only present in the wierd murky brown coloring. Fail from a usually great brewer.

On tap at armsby abbey, tartish and those strong Danish malts are definitely in there. Odd hops to hop with. Not bad
