COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
A blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 of beer aged 2 years in large oak vats. The more important proportion of oak matured beer contributes to its fruity taste, complexity and intensity. The finish is worthy of a great wine.

0,33 flaske fra Polet: fruktig vinøs aroma. Skummet forsvinner fort, men det gjør ikke den komplekse, syrlige smaken og den herlige ettersmaken. En nydelig aperitif.

Deep brown with an off white head. Baking spice and red fruit on the nose. Pitch perfect mouthfeel. Yeasty, oak influenced palate. Fresh, with high acidity and layered tart fruit. As vinous a beer as I’ve ever tasted. Amazing.

There is a video on youtube with Michael Jackson describing this gem. He went on and on about the aging in huge wooden tanks, to the refreshing taste. He is correct in all regards. This is a refreshing beer. It is a shame that sours are called sours and not tarts. I can’t wait to drink this beer again.

Pours a ruby/brown with a beige head and splatter lacing. Smell is sour grapes, cherries and some vinegar. Taste is tart and sweet cherries, candied green apples, vinegar, some wood and depths of caramel. The sour complements the sweet very nicely, and it lingers well after the sip. The sour is the moisture sucking type for me. Very nice.

Bottle 330ml from King&Godfree. Very tasty and complex. Aromas of apple, cherries, dark fruit, with hints of caramel. Taste is sweet and sour, with very long length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Brown, with a frothy head.

Draught at Fermentoren, Copenhagen. A return to one of the beers that wowed me when I first started exploring. Luscious deep red, little head or lacing to speak of. Gorgeous sour vinegary taste; not quite the mouth-puckering experience I remember but it was new to me then. Now the level of sourness seems spot-on. Oak character comes through particularly, perhaps because it’s on tap here. A beer I’ll no doubt return to many times more.

33cl Brown bottle, best before 27th Mar 2010, drank after a heavy day at work 5th Aug 2008. Poured into my new La Chouffe tulip glass (the first beer to grace it). Deep Ruby red and as clear as clear when held up to the light. The tan head looked well formed at first, but it fell away to a collar very swiftly. Incredible aroma of sour red fruit (Raspberries, Cherries and Redcurrents), Almonds and Mazzipan type smells too, but all sour. The sourness is also incredible in the taste, very pronounced and in your face. I have had a few ’Reds’ in my time, but this one was very true to its style, a rich sourness prevails throughout and althought not a favourite style of mine, you can’t help but appreciate the complex mix your senses are given by this beer. Whoever blended this brew did a fine job.
