Bottle from Keg Liquors in Clarksville. Pours hazy yellow/golden with minimal foamy white head. Nose is sharp sour lemon tart. Flavor is dry, bitter, sharp sour, lemon abundance and sour tart, very dry finish. Not bad.

Bottle from beermerchants.com. Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aromas of sour apples, summer fruits, lemon, white wine vinegar. Excellent tart aromas. Flavours of bitter lemon, green apples, acetic, grapefruit. Good, sour, crisp mouthfeel with a tinge of sweetness. Finishes dry, bitter and vaguely hoppy. One of my favourite geuze’s.

2003. 750ml bottle. a glowing orange under a small frothy white head. this thing stinks. bold sour peach, lemon, citrus aroma fills the room. a tad watery. bitter. minerally. notes of peach and bitter lemon. tonic water. kind of tasteless. moderately carbonated and not as acidic and sour as the aroma would suggest. dry with an extremely quick finish.

375ml corked bottle, lugged around Europe, and cellared for 2+ years before opening. The aroma right off the bat is awesome, tart and wheaty, a return to Belgium. Cloudy orange-gold color with a big soapy head that fades out after a few minutes. The mouthfeel has somewhat mellowed, the wheat really comes to the forefront, although there is a solid lemony Brett taste as well. Very dry and just all around well done, this one is actually strong enough to sip on and really take in. Sticky, sugary residue in the aftertaste, along with some tart lemon-lime. A world class beverage all the way.

Bottle. 2005 vintage. Pours a nice golden with a slight haziness. Rocky slightly off white head. Falls away pretty quickly leaving a little lacing. Aromas are quite complex. Green apple sourness, acidic sourness, horse blanket funk and just a touch of vinegar. Very nice balance. Flavours are slightly sweet initially followed by plenty of acidity. Quite sour. Some funk though definitely not as pronounced as in other bottles that I have had. Really nice beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden/orange beer with a lively white head. The aroma is sour, sweet and malt. The flavor is sweet, metallic and bitter. The palate is bitter. Overall a good, traditional gueze with some complexity.

Bottle. Pours a golden yellow, cloudy liquid with a large, white head. Aroma is acidic, musty and a bit bitter with notes of apple peel. Taste is round and rather complex with some acidity, mustiness and bitterness. A relatively sweet finish with a hint of blueberry. Really nice, but maybe a bit mild.

Brassy color with a rather big off-white head that slowly fizzes away. Some speckled lacings remains on top of the liquid and on the edges of the glass. The smell is very big with lots and lots of aromas popping up through the glass. A gentle funkiness mixes with plenty of aromas of tart fruit and notes of fermenting apples. Hints of grass, dry earth and minerals. A vinegary touch is very aggressive at first, but settles after a while. All in all, a truly amazing smell. The taste is not as impressive as the smell. It’s more gentle and not as well composed. Here’s lots of tart fruits, primarily green apples, and aromas of grass. Sourness dominates the flavor, but here’s quite a lot of slightly wheaty sweetness as well. Funkiness is restrained, but something in the line of horse-blanket appears every now and then. In the middle, the taste gets a little nutty with notes of fermenting apples. The finish is gently sour and has a mild grassy and herbal bitterness to it. Notes of minerals and lingering fruity aromas in the finish as well. Medium body with a refreshing sparkling carbonation. The texture is slightly creamier than most gueuzes. A good gueuze. It has lots of character, but the flavors can’t keep up with the fantastic aromas in the smell. The flavor is a little too much on the fruity side and there is something in the finish that bothers me - it’s hard to put my finger on it, but something seems off. But it’s very interesting to see that a gueuze can handle such a high ABV without it even getting noticeable. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)
