4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 ronaldtheriot (448) - Laplace, USA - JAN 15, 2012
Skull Splitter has a medium, creamy, beige head and a hazy, apricot color, with particulate matter floating throughout. The aroma is of dark fruits, figs, and prunes. Taste is of sweet, dark fruits, prunes, figs, chocolate, and there is some spicy hop presence. One gets a strong alcohol profile with this, and it is reminiscent of brandy. Mouthfeel is medium, and Skull Splitter finishes fairly dry, rich, and smooth. Overall, this is a fabulous beer. RJT

330 lm bottle. Snifter shows deep brown with ruby like shades without much head or lace. Nose and flavors mirror. Dark fruit, ( raisins, grapes) molasses, brown sugar and caramel malt. Texture is sticky and sweet. Fuller body. The sweetness hides the ABV. Real nice brew.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 ROGUE (1360) - Newark, Delaware, USA - MAY 27, 2012
330ml bottle. Pours a deep ruby brown color with a creamy off white two finger head. An aroma of sweet malt, caramel, baked bread and dark fruits. Taste has big molasses, roasted, and almost smoky malt flavors. With caramel and butterscotch characteristics as well. All that, with a balanced hop backdrop and a nice alcohol warming finish. Highly carbonated and fairly creamy mouthfeel.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 solidfunk (660) - Ontario, CANADA - MAY 22, 2012
This smells like a booze bomb. Tastes bitter from the outset. Theres a touch of cherry in here and a little bit of some kind of christmas cake. Its a little unsatisfying overall. Bottle from the health food shop in lebanon.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ALLOVATE (1715) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - MAY 11, 2012
Opaque, dull, ruddy chestnut with very little evident carbonation. It’s safely donned by an impressive, towering, whipped up cappuccino foam that leaves a solid lace. Strong, spicy sherry notes on the nose with hints of sweet cola, vanilla, ripe cherries, butterscotch, caramelised rhubarb and figs; really gets the olfactories ticking over and the nostrils tingling. Very rich, it instantly sets the palate to high alert. Wads of dark stone fruit, bitter herbs, sharp Shiraz-like vinous notes, earthy, woody forest floor and sweet molasses fills up the most, very well rounded and meaty. Finish is assertively bitter, bold and rough with woody, leafy herbs melded well with the wine-like and molasses rich depth of the swallow. Late building of aniseed and subtle charred wood add to what is a delightful ale. Big bodied, sweet but controlled and balanced to a ’T’. This is just a great beer. One worth cellaring me thinks! 2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 mrjaxson (119) - Wisconsin, USA - APR 29, 2012
About as mild as they come. It is very nice to look at: deep copper color and a terrific head. Aroma is faint raisins and bread. Hops are nonexistent at every point. There’s a slightly sweet taste from the pleasantly thick liquid. Given the write-ups by our European friends of a more boisterous beverage, I’m thinking Skull Splitter loses its punch on the journey to the New World.
