0,25l bottle as gift from Denmark. Opaque, black color with medium, creamy, dark brown head, which disappears quickly. Sweet, alcoholly odor followed by roasty, smoked malt flavours. The aroma is incredibly smoky and roasty. At the beginning itís sweet and caramelly, but after the firs impressions itís dry and tastes like a roast pork. Itís definitelly made with a lot of smoked malt, which causes this meet flavour. It must had a lot of chocolate malt too which makes the color so black, but it doesnít make the beer sour and bitter. Alcohol and honey flavours also appears. Dry, intensive and complex taste, nothing can dominate, but all the three basic flavours (sweet, sour, bitter) appears. Full bodied with oily texture and light carbonation. Roast pork finish. Itís an interesting beer. Surprisingly complex, incredibly oily and full bodied. This beer is dominated by the malty flavours, and from this view itís the opposite of the Mikkeller Black Hole, which is a "hoppy imperial stout". Itís a concentrated beer, 25cl is totally enough. The alcohol content isnít too high, and it canít be felt as dominant in the aroma. The texture, the body, and the malty flavours make this beer this rich and concentrated.

Bottle. Big, brown head, jet black color. Aroma: Coffee, soya sauce, nuts, some alcohol, some licorice. Taste: Wow! Meidum sweetness, low sourness, bitter finish. Flavor of chocolate, loads of chocolate with some alcohol, coffee, nuts. Strong, intense. Extremely high body, very oily texture. Beer is very dense. Very low carbonation. High body, velvet texture. One of the best beers in my life.

Madreeee miaaaa que locuraaaaa. Esto es una maravilla de cerveza. La he probado de barril. Pero tengo que probarla de botella. Un cuerpo impresionante, un equilibrio redondo. Muuuy achocolatada, especiada y dulzona. Una cerveza que prometo repetir.

Pours dark brown with a dark tan / burnt orange head. The aroma has dark chocolate, vanilla, rich roasty chewy malt, light anise and molasses. It has a thick oily smooth body with minor carbonation. The flavor starts with deep roast, licorice, dark berries, dark chocolate, earthy bitterness and a slick aspect to the flavors. The finish is super dry and woody. Good imperisal stout.

The starting point of a whole wrist of fantastic beers, this is a big and brutal imperial stout, opaque black in colour not allowing even the brightest light to shine through, adorned with a thin, initially dense, deep dark beige head, completely dissolving after a while leaving only the thinnest thinkable rim of beigeness around the edge of the glass. Powerful, assertive aroma of great complexity, with impressions of ristretto coffee, bitter chocolate, cocoa powder, chili peppers, cigar tobacco, pine needles, wet leather, raisins or dried plums, candied figs, cinnamon, Zinfandel wine, tree bark, Sachertorte, rosemary, soy sauce, salty ídropí and whisky. Taste begins with a strong spicy sweetness, strong liquorice and cloves, candied fruits, soft carbonation, sourish hint, black pepper and dried green herbs, salty soy sauce accent, very thick, fat and oily mouthfeel, almost viscous, layer upon layer of abysmal maltiness, bitter chocolate dominating, evolving towards a full-fledged, merciless, mouth cavity filling roasted bitterness like the strongest black coffee, peppery spicy hop bitterness positioned against it, maltiness pushing through again and a warming, whisky-like alcohol effect rounding things off a bit. This is an imperial stout which makes no compromise; it attacks your nose, palate and even throat at full force. Like it or hate it, you canít ignore it. "Punched in the face" indeed aptly expresses the sensation of pouring this one down. I can understand this may be a bridge too far for some, but this kind of daring brews keep me interested in the subject; it has remarkable complexity, yet somehow all these bold flavours work well together. Brute force yet intelligent and inspiring, this is (again) a Mikkeller masterpiece. It only made me curious to discover its barrel-aged offspring...

Tap at Brewdog Edinburgh. Light spice, roast, coffee and chocolate, chilli. The usual I guess, but feels pretty nice.

Purchased at Binnys in Chicago, IL with a holiday gift card, enjoyed at home with a cat on my lap before watching playoff football. Appearance is a thick pitch black with a nice tan rim. Aroma is complex, great profile of chocolate, espresso, vanilla, wood, light licorice / cherry, booze. Taste is very good, goes down with a light burn, rich chocolate and bitter coffee notes. It's abrasive but delicious equally. Big thumbs up for this one!

Had on draft at Mikkeller bar. This is a big dark and toasty beer. Thick and oily. Notes of raisin and cocoa. Very tasty.
