12oz bottle. Dark, dark brown, not quite black, 1" light brown/tan head, medium lacing. Sweet, roasted aroma. Taste is same, very mild bitterness, perfectly balanced and S M O O T H with a clean finish. If there is a better porter, I really need to try it!

Deep cola appearance with a thin tan head. Roasted yet sweet aromas are softer and more appealing than a stout. Some hops begin to come out in the flavor and provide a contrasting bitter undertone. Thick and soupy mouthfeel is delicious in a darker beer. Great stuff!

I’ve recently heard about this beer in the local paper so while visiting the Blue Dog I picked one up. Well, this beer pours with a great tan head, dark brown in color. When held up to a light I can barely see through it. Good head rentention, very good actually and excellent lacing. Rich malts provide a complex aroma. I can pick out cofee and espresso and chocolate from the roasted malts. This porter is smooth and rich in flavor, what you smell is what you get baby. Coffee and espresso up front with a nice chocolate finish. A good cooking beer for stews and chili. Drink well my friends

Bottle. Taste- robust is a good word for this. Chocolatey, coffee and hard water. Prominently hopped. Great porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

First time drinking and it lives up to the hype. Hints of cocoa and chocolate. Very easy drinking...makes me wish I had bought a 6pk instead of a single bottle!

I had this on tap at the Brickhouse in Davidson, NC. It is very dark, almost black. There is some lacing on the glass. It has a roasted malt aroma with chocolate and coffee notes. It has a rich flavor with are roasted on the palate with chocolate. It is not bitter, very smooth on the finish.

Bottle. Dark brown/black with garnet highlights and a small tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, and roasted malts. Medium body, roasted malt, light coffee, and some bitterness with a dry finish.

It appears dark and opaque. It has a dark black color with deep crimson highlights when held up to light. The head is tan, thick and foamy with good retention. Some light tan lace slowly sides down the glass, chasing the head, as I drink. The aroma is full and rich. It has notes of caramel with a strong dark roasted malt presence that has a deep roasted espresso character. Its flavor has deep chocolate roasted malts with flavor notes of coffee and cream with bittersweet chocolate. The hops play well off the malt and further develop the bittersweet chocolaty flavors before slowly fading out into the finish. The palate is smooth, creamy and slightly slick with mild carbonation and a medium to full body. Outstanding. This porter is one of my personal favorites, with a wonderful balance of flavors and drirkability. I would highly recommend this as a stand alone drink or even pairing it with your favorite chocolate.

A robust easy drinking porter. Hits all the right notes. Wish this was more available in my area, would be a regular in my rotation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

One of the first porters that I regularly drank. For the price it is still a good porter. It no longer ranks at the top for favorite based on taste alone. Has a bitterness to it - like the dark chocolate used for baking. Also roasted malt and coffee. A dark brown color. It is a bit light in body. Not as complex as some of my current favorites, but still one I will buy on a semi-regular basis.
