This top fermented beer is a luxury beer full of flavor and character whose fine balance owes itself to the variety of malts carefully selected from the best growers and the subtle blend of different types of hops, together with a new more aromatic strain of yeast. Its shimmering and sparking robe is crystal clear. It has a dense and persistent head that leaves a fine, filigree pattern on the glass.
A light refreshing beer, it has a summery bouquet with fruity and flowery notes that counterbalance its well-defined hoppy tones and generous and long-lasting aftertaste.
Jenlain Or is best served at between 6 and 8°C.

750 mL Bottle with a champagne cork. Yellow-gold body with a foamy-rocky white head and somewhat profuse effervescence makes it look very inviting. The aroma is fruity-grainy; banana, peach, pear, pineapple, light malts, and hints of ginger and lemon. Very fruity-sweet flavor; green grapes, peach, and pear stand out with an almost buttery quality to it. There is a metallic note that shows up upon the initial pour but that seems to fade or transform to bubblegum as the beer is sipped through the time I take to complete this assay. A bubblegum sweetness takes over in the aftertaste and finish. I’m not normally a fan of very sweet beers but this one has this full-bodied fruity sweetness to it as opposed to that thin sugary sweetness that I’d be otherwise prone to spit out and condemn such as I had done to another Belgian that was spiked with a most vile sweetener: Aspartame. This full-body fruity sweetness shines in the palate as well: a silky smooth that is an uncommon find. This "Or" has won my heart. Please note that this beer was had at cellar temperature.

Bottle, 25cL. @Le Discret, Bressuire, France. A clear golden beer with a large white head. Thin bubbles. Good persistence. Aroma of herbs, caramel, spices, light fruity. Medium sugary sweet, light herbal bitter. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, lasting sugary sweet finish. Overall, beautiful, oddly pleasant to drink, a bit too sweet in my opinion.

Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a nice three centimetre tall tan head that fades fairly fast to just a layer of thin foam. Aroma of honey, earth, light apricots, flowers, yeast and a bit of honeysuckle. Medium-bodied; Rich honey and golden raisin flavours throughout with a good amount of malt, some subdued earthy notes in the taste. Aftertaste shows a good and complex balance of earthy malts and a very subdued yet strong sweet flavour at the end, getting a lot of character from honey, apricots and bananas. Overall, a refreshingly nice tripel with a large sweetness and only a touch of the malt and alcohols. I sampled this 75 cL botle purchased from City’Super! in Harbour City, Kowloon, Hong Kong earlier in the day for only a measly HK$30,00 - yes, that really is a full 75 cL bottle of 8% beer for only US$3,75!!! Worth trying if you can find it for moderately cheap, otherwise, probably not too worthwhile, sampled in my hotel room here in Wan Chai, Hong Kong on 04-July-2014.

Bottle 25cl. Clear golden color, small but thick creamy white head, recedes after a while to a thin yeasty layer that lasts, nice lacing; aroma sweet malty, bread, toast, citrus, yeast, apricot, oranhe peel, citrus, alcohol, hint of vanilla; moderate sweet, slightly bitter, hint of caramel, fruity notes; full bodied, smooth creamy mouthfeel, lively carbonation; smooth bittersweet finish, slightly toasted, a bit spicy. Quite satisfying blond beer.

250ml Flasche. Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldgelbes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig fruchtig, Dörrobst, hefig, leicht würzig. Geschmack sehr malzig fruchtig, bananig, leicht würzig, leicht alkoholisch.

A boire plutôt fraîche. Jolies notes de caramel et de fruits. La finale est un peu courte mais l’équilibre général est bon. Un peu cher quand même pour ce produit.

750 ml cork bottle bought at CitySuper in Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Clear light golden orange colour with no yeast sediments; One-quarter finger head and soapy off white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Very small sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation; Aroma of malt and wheat, with pretty strong phenolic, light banana, coriander, spices, faint alcohol, yeast and faint grass; Strong sweet taste of malt, with light metallic, syrups, alcohol, phenolic, very light ester, shades of band-aid, yeast and light grassy hops; Close to light body. Slightly slick palate; Mouth feel is very sweet and quite unpleasant for the style. Thin body, strong phenolic nose indicates substantial wheat in the mix, which would be nice if this is a German weizen, but for this Belgian Blonde it’s really hollow and lacking. Lots of petty off-tastes: metallic, band-aid, syrups, strong phenol. Sigh…Hoppiness is faint grass nose and light grass taste. Typical light Bel bitterness, not enough to counter the syrup for an abrupt sweet-bitter finish; Wet after taste, sweet and a bit odd to mouth.

Comments: This is literally a Belgian Strong Weizen, with a very strong weissbier-like wheaty character in nose and taste at the expense of the usual Bel-yeast and esters. The result is iffy at best: too sweet with lots of little off-tastes, hollow body and empty mouth feel. Barely drinkable so don’t bother.

UPDATED: FEB 7, 2014 Beer looks nice when poured. Clear golden with a full white head. Well balanced, but a touch too sweet for me and rather thin. Unpleasant, alcoholic finish.
