Delicious. Hoppy, but not quite as hoppy as Double Dead Guy. A little more malty, too. Really really good. Well worth the $20.

Cool 750 ml flip-top ceramic bottle purchased fourteen months ago at Holiday Wine Cellar (10.99). Pours a deep red-purple hue with really big creamy beige head. Aroma of mild dark fruit, bready malts, and some anise. And it has a distinct aroma that is very similar to a typical sour ale with notes of leather, barnyard, and dank overripe fruit. Is there brett in here?? Complex flavor of toffee, molasses, stewed dark fruits, some chocolate, anise, spice, and more dank sour/lambic notes. Finishes very dry with some lingering hoppy bitterness that I had not picked up before. A very interesting (actually, quite strange) beer that I was not expecting. (63, 626)

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel flavor with hoppy hints. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel finish with hoppy hints in the aftertaste.

A georgeous looking bottle, complex flavours with great and not great flavour notes. The smell was awful, unwashed feet and hidden mould. A few months’ cellaring was not responsible, rather brett and the like. Dark brown colour with significant retained white head. The taste was raisiny above all, malts and hops. Getting through the aroma there was good drinkability but it was wierd and boozy, as if this monster developed into a 10% plus overnight.Above average mouthfeel.

Sampled from a large ceramic bottle this beer poured a caramel-brown color with a small beige head that lingered and left no lacing. The aroma was tart and citric with Sweettart candies and bits of must and chalk. The flavor was dry, tart and chalky with light berries, lemon and a touch of windex. A bit medicinal. The finish was long, dry and tart berries and chalk. Medium body. Interesting.

Tasted on 7/26/11 from a 750mL ceramic swing top bottle purchased at Binny’s Lincoln Park, thank you to ryan585. Pours clear burnt amber with a tint of red and a thick tan head that slowly recedes to spotty lace and a decent collar. The nose is very bretty with tons of barnyard and a good amount of underlying chocolate and caramel malt. The flavor is pretty much the same with the brett dominating and the malt playing second fiddle, along with the addition of some peach, apricot, and red apple pitted fruits. The body is full and oily with average carbonation and a long brett and caramel malt finish.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with medium off-white head that mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma was toasted malt with a small hop tone. Flavor was a moderate to heavy balanced flavor with a moderate to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good brew.

A complex beer with a nose and taste of wood, hop, oats, wheat, yeast and caramel malt. In the end, the blend was good and the finale was smooth. I liked it.

Bottle. Pours orange/brown. Aroma of orange peel, nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavour of nutmeg, dark fruit, bitter hops. Not bad.
