4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Ughsmash (6666) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 22, 2013750mL bottle, bottled on 4/24/10, #401/431. Poured cola brown with a tall, sticky, well-retained toasted beige head. The aroma picked up a healthy dose of roasty, earthy, nutty coffee with vanilla bean, cocoa, and mocha on the back of the nose.. sweet and somehow soft.. lovely! The flavor found a kiss of tangy coffee bean on the tip of the tongue, with sweeter, roasty coffee and milk chocolate following.. complementary dark fruity yeast on the spicy edges.. lively coffee acidity cut through milky cocoa and coffee roast on the finish. Medium-plus bodied with smooth, rolling carbonation on the palate.. creamy, with nice acidity keeping it from being cloying.. great feel and flow. I tried to think of a reason to not totally love this one, but I failed to find one. Wow!
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 gEUS (573) - Linden, BELGIUM - APR 24, 2013
This is an incredibly wonderful beer!
Bottle 284/431 - 750 ml bottle at home, served about 10 cl in an oversized wine glass - Pours deep brown with reddish hue, nice firm small light beige head.
Aroma is just so intense: green paprica mixed with fresh coffee roast and coffee bitterness of the beans, dark chocolate and stewed plums.
Balance is oooow soooo perfect: roastiness perfectly balanced with the sweetness, making one think of a perfect espresso, all countered with a pleasant bitterness, giving it a full body.
Flavour is sweet coffee with dark berries, dark chocolate with a tad alcohol burn... makes me think of a decent Irish coffee...
Overall: definite HIT! Thank you Menno!!

From ABC beers Den Haag. Dark mahogany pour, no real head. Huge coffee aroma with lots of malt, smokey and liquorice flavours. A really super De Molen beer as usual.

75 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 06.11.2010
Lots and lots of foaming when pouring. Aroma is a bit unpleasant and ashy with mocha and hints of licorice. Flavour is rather strong on mocha. Also some licorice and coffee. Palate is way too high on CO2.

Bottle 0,75ltr: Opaque black brew with big foamy beige head, with intense bitter taste due the coffeebeans and long bitter aftertaste also in your gullet. Like this coffee stout version 2 very much.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 magdalar (498) - Zurich, SWITZERLAND - JAN 30, 2012
Bottle 75cl, Dec 2010, #312.
Pours black as night, with a large gushing brown head with excellent lacing -- very inviting.
Smells sweet, of chocolate and espresso, with some wood and alcohol notes.
Tastes a heavy sweet, medium bitter, and noticeable but pleasant alcohol, with some vanilla and tons of dark malts.
Texture is creamy. Full bodied. Soft carbonation. Finishes slightly bitter, like a good coffee.
Very pleasant.
