4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Been anxiously waiting for some special occasion to open this one. I guess Monday night is special enough. Poured from 375ml to tulip:
Pours an inky black with a half finger of light mocha head. Stubborn lacing and sultry legs.
The nose is stuffed with smooth bourbon and spicy wood. Malted caramel and toffee, warming booze and licorice. Some cherry notes as well.
Hot damn. Delicious. All the expected players make an appearance with the addition of some tart, earthy woods. Very nice. The booze is nicely incorporated.
The feel is what I was concerned about. I had heard from countless people that Lost Abbey beers are notoriously flat. This is far from flat. Velvety smooth, beautiful.
Overall, I desperately wish we could get Lost Abbey here in the north woods. If their other beers are even half as good as this, I would be their biggest customer. WANT.

Complete stout a la Bourbon County or similar. Caramel/roasted malt to slight alcohol burn to cocoa finish.
My first Lost Abbey, a good one. Minimal review as I am eating dinner.

Fresh on tap. Excellent blend of Lost Abbey's BBA Serpent Stout and Angel's Share, with distinct bourbon and brandy notes. Great flavor and a nice burn on the finish, if thinner than a few of the more viscous barrel aged stouts.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12.7oz bottle shared. Can you say excellence in a bottle. Pours an oily black no head. The aroma is molasses (sherry barrels) bourbon, vanilla, deep roasted malts. The flavor is godsend, dark roasted malts blended perfectly with the sweet of the molasses and hints of vanilla and bourbon. Alcohol is well hidden but yet evident. Truly and amazing beer. Medium to heavy body and so smooth and delicious.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours very dark brown with hints of blood red deep within a snifter. One finger of light brown head.
Bourbon, licorice, and dark fruit in the aroma.
Bourbon comes first and is very prominent. Underneath theres a little bit of chocolate and then finishes with some booze. Almost reminds of Bourbon County in how intense and tasty the bourbon is in this. Brandy in the background? Either way, this is a fantastic beer.
Smooth and silky on the palate. Very nice.
Overall, a fantastic beer. Glad that I grabbed the last one. Probably in my top ten.
