4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 ACHops (282) - Seattle, Washington, USA - NOV 24, 2012On tap @ Bottleworks. Pours dark brown with a reddish tint. Thin creamy mocha head that laces well. Aroma is big syrupy sweet and boozy. Notes of brandy, port, licorice - no stout to speak of so far. Taste is similar though the boozy barrel aged flavors are mostly up front balanced by rich chocolate malts on the back. Perfect balance in the finish. Opens as it warms, oak, leather, earthy notes are present. Clearly strong but you don’t notice the 12.5%. Pretty much what you’d expect from blending Serpents Stout and Angels Share, with the best qualities of both. Outstanding. Bonus points for the 6oz pour, you don’t need much more than that.
