COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

Wow. This beer tastes so simple and complex at the same time...it is full of simplexity. I feel like this beer could require years of study and enjoyment. It smells good, it looks good, it tastes good, it laces the glass simplexily. Wow. Since regular Guinness was my favourite beer, this is especially good for me. I know not everyone would like it, but I really do.

Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2012
Bottle consumed late at night in a lounge bar in Belize. It pours black, with a thin tan head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, burnt notes and bitter chocolate. The taste is rich roasted malt, very bitter coffee, bitter chocolate, liquorice, ash, burnt malt and some underlying sweetness, with a bitter finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. It’s flavoursome, but perhaps a bit rich. The classic foreign stout.

Dark brown color and slowly settling thick foam head. Leaving lacing on glass and sticks to lip. Sweet smell, but also chocolate. Taste like guinness, unique. (Ufa 201202)

Carib it would appear turn their hand to anything and everything. This product is one of their best. 275ml bottle (like all Carib beers), best before May 2009, drank June 2008. Poured into a half-pint tumbler on the hotel balcony. Looked just like a normal Guinness, dark and with a good deep tan head. The aroma, taste and mouthfeel all seemed overly burnt. Dry and bitter with some caramel trying to be heard in the mix. Rich, but not creamy, burnt malts ruled the brew and for some could have ruined it too.

Bottle. Pours an appealing black with a tan head. Sweet burnt sugar and a light fruity aroma. Flavour is liquorice, burnt sugar and treacle. Initially sweet before a strong bitter finish.
