4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Aggy360 (115) - Anchorage/ Vista,CA, USA - SEP 5, 2009
My 100th rating had to be this great brew. I’ve had this many times but now is the time to rate it.
The pour is a dark reddish copper with a great tan head, with nice lace. The aroma is a beautiful caramel malt blended with just the right amount of piney hops. The taste is out-of-this-world fantastic. There is a great balance of rich malt flavor blended with the citrus/piney hops. There is pleanty of malt base with caramel, crystal, and toffee characters to hold up
to the bitterness of the hops used. A smooth creamy full bodied beer.
I am proud to say I am one of the "few" to love this beer.

Found an old tasting note:
big brew. delivers on its’ name. very hoppy, citrus and pine cones. the palate is more of the same. it has a crazy long bitter finish. I’ve always been a fan!

On tap sampler at The Bungalow Alehouse in Gainsville, VA.
Clear, dark mahogany with a large white head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of pine and floral hops over a solid biscuity malt base.
Taste of pine, citrus and floral hops with caramel malt, toffee and a touch of sweet, dark fruit. Tons of delicious bitter flavor from first sip through finish.
Medium body and medium carbonation with nice creamy mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 kdm1984 (139) - Missouri, USA - MAY 26, 2012
Another goodie by Stone. Aroma is floral and malty, if somewhat muted. Pours mid brown-orange with little fluffy head. Flavor is nutty, bready/malty, crisp hops, and finishes clean and slurpy-good. I’ve also had the oaked version of this - recall the aroma being more interesting, but taste-wise, I’d have to revisit it again. At any rate, try this one.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 minihame2 (48) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 26, 2012
Murky brown colour, very thin tan head. Light hoppy aroma. Taste is very soft with hoppy feel to it. Minimal aftertaste. It’s an alright beer.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 ICEatALAMO (162) - Troy, Michigan, USA - MAY 25, 2012
Draft in a tulip. A nice deep amber color with good head. The aroma is intense with a lot of malt. The taste is intense as well, but in a good way. Dangerously high in alcohol, but easy to drink. A strong ale to measure others against. Leaves a little bit of a bitter aftertaste is the only downfall.

Tap. Pours a darkish brown. The aroma is of hops. The taste is hop flavor with mild citrus and pine notes. The bitterness isn’t overpowering. Good all around.

I got this beer for 3 dollars a pint at the new Bar Louie in Nashville TN. Haha. Taste is exceptionally malty with a sturdy hop presence. The beer is as advertised. Loads of malts, tons of hops, amber/dark brown in color, and medium to heavy bodied. This one is a winner.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Voodoo (86) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 20, 2012
Pours the color of a quality birch beer soda, with a deep rich reddish brown and a near creamy head. Hints of coffee, very slight vanilla and well bittered malts. Nicely built ale without the overwhelming full mouthfeel of other strongs......a well managed medium body with a little sweetness but very crisp. Nice job.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Chrisxx25 (57) - - MAY 18, 2012
Aroma is sweet caramel, pine and floral hops, some citrus. Taste is plenty of rich sweet caramel, bitter pine and grapefruit. Maybe some cherry. Slightly thick palate with nice amount of carbonation Not too complex but very well executed. Plenty of flavor. This beer was fitting to be called an American strong ale.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jbruner (139) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 17, 2012
Pours a nice dark brown on tap with solid tan head and good lacing. Aroma is malty up front, with sweet and roasted notes, and piney on the back end. Taste follows smell, but it ends a little bitter. Clean and well balanced.
