4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 BrianDorry55 (329) - Spring Hill, USA - JUL 25, 2011
On Draft at Peg’s for the 100th Batch Celebration. Pours black with a small yellowish head. Aroma is bourbon, peat, ash, and chocolate roast. Very full/different flavor...This has the typical burnt chocolate roast flavors of ash, dark chocolate, bourbon, and tobacco that youll find in many barrel aged impy stouts...but there is a pretty large influence of conconut and peat flavor in this, making this a refreshing break from the norm. As great as the flavor is, the Palate is probably what sets this beer off, absolutely one of the silkiest, creamiest beers I have ever had with a perfect warming alcohol bite, warmth to it. So full bodied and smooth, you really couldnt hope for a better mouthfeel. Overall this is absolutely one of the best imperial stouts and an example of what a barrel aged beer should be, not overly boozy to the point where the bourbon influence inhibits the presence of the original ingredients as well as the desired palate. The only downside to drinking this beer, was that it was 90 something degrees out on a July day in the good ole Sunshine State...if it was December, I would savor every last drop of this beer.

On draft at Peg’s during Berliner Bash. SO excited to finally try this one. It brings me hope that maybe one day I will be able to try RareR Dos or Funky Dos. Maybe I am a fool for hoping, but so it goes. Pours a dark stout brown/ near black with a tan head. Nose is goodness- roasted malts, whiskey, tiny hints of booze, vanilla, wood, chocolate, and some smores. Flavor is similar- fudge all over, vanilla, whiskey, wood, love, and hints of mallow. Gets better as it warms- the wood character backs off a bit. Really nice- one of the better BA stouts, more balanced- not nearly as boozy as some others in this style.

Tap at Peg’s Cantina. Near ink pour with rich, reverse cascade mocha head. Not too much lace. Nose is tawny, black pepper, bourbon richness, melted fudge. Taste is quite rich and on style- buttery bourbon, melted dark chocolate fudge, vanilla. Spicy wood finish. A bit dry through the end. Still, quite delicious. Really like the palate on this one. Doesn’t really improve as it warms.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 burg326 (1113) - Florida, USA - MAY 20, 2012
On draft at Peg’s, ured a dark black color, aromas of chocolate, coffee, bourbon, and some light vanilla. Flavors are big bold coffee, chocolate, and bourbon. As the beer warmed in the Florida sun more of the bourbon flavor comes out.

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2012 Lots of malted chocolate syrup flavors but not too sweet and well balanced. Really enjoyable from the small sample size I had.

Draft at the cash bar during the berliner bash on the bay at pegs. Pours a pitch black body with thin white lacing, no head. Aroma is pure melted chocolate fudge. Mouthfeel is syrupy and creamy with notes of melted fudge brownie. Insane. Such a perfectly executed stout.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Oakes (10191) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 2, 2012
Very dark brown. The aroma is very chocolatey, malted milk. The body is slightly thinner than the Rarer DOS, but with nice chocolate notes. Lots of full malty character. Decent, balance but not as stylish or intense as the Rarer.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 mlunger12 (519) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAR 10, 2012
On tap at Peg’s, BA release, 3/9/12. Pours a dark black. Aroma of vanilla, roasted chocolate. When it is cold it has a very smooth and rounded taste. There isn’t much to it until it warms, but once it warms... a near perfect balance of chocolate, vanilla and hint of oak. The bourbon barrel aging is prevelant, but not enough to overpower the underlying beer. Delicious.

Solid dark tan head. Nose is rich chocolate and dried fruit. Not as deep and rich flavor wise as the rarer but still presents rich dark malt, ight chocolate and mild bitterness.
