Tasted 2011-01-10. Bottled. Pours unclear, dark amber with beige head. Aroma is piney hops, coffee, cocoa, but in no way does it smell like a porter. It’s a very rounded off aroma. Taste is moderately bitter - nothing too powerful. The aftertaste is absolutely wonderful; vanilla, cocoa, hops. Very well balanced. I’m very impressed.

Hazy orange, almost with a tinge of pink to it. Light but sudsy white head. The hops and coffee are both present in the aroma; smells quite interesting and is somewhat confusing to smell coffee from a beer of this color. Taste of coffee upfront which disappears into a long bitter IPA finish, a really neat flavor shift in the mouth. Mouth feel is a tad bit thin for an IPA. Overall very unique and fun.

750ml bottle and served in no-nik pint glass: Pours deep golden hue with a huge arse head that left rings of lace upon the glass. (I honestly expected this beer to be darker than this)... The aroma, yep piney and dank hops with grapefruit and pepper esters, mild biscuity and very faint roast that I guess would be the coffee if I imagined it hard enough. The taste is again hop forward with plenty of pine and herbal overtones along with moderate citric flavors. What coffee character there is on the palate is in the form of cheap instant crap, that edge of coffee flavor tastes utterly fake. What an waste... Now as far as the IPA side of the house, it is nice single hopped brew but hardly displays the character that would make me ever want to buy this again. Nothing more a gimmick and I am knocking down the overall score because of that!

750ml bottle. Pours orange with a nice white head. Nose of lite burnt coffee, grapefruit hop aroma. Taste is initially nice bold citrus hops and mild coffee. As it warms more robust coffee shows with the citrus still playing a large roll. I was a bit skeptical going in to this, but I think the flavors somehow meld together nicely.

Hazy deep apricot amber with a fluffy cream coloured head with greenish tinges. The aroma is of hops, hops and more hops. Coffee? Not really. Not even in the flavour. Maybe a little bit of cold dregs of coffee in the flavour. This is a lovely IPA, but coffee? It has to be said though, I’m not disappointed at all.

330ml bottle. Light coffee ad herbal aromas. Pours amber-copper, hazy, with nice white head, creamy, persistant, some lacing. Medium body and soft carbonation. Taste is herbal at the beginning, then coffee, malty, some roasty. Nice bitter finish.

Pours a cloudy almost burnt orange with a thin, smooth head. Initial taste is strong coffee followed by crisp hops on the middle and finish. Not overly carbonated - but still bitter enough to let you know it’s an IPA. Nose is faint coffee and hops. Nice burnt flavor due to the coffee.

Pour deep, orange, with a large frothy white head. Aroma is a bit weird to me. Pine, apricot, grass, coffee, caramel. - Don’t know, but to me it isn’t working that well. Taste is bitter up front, from both the hops and the coffee. Slight caramel sweetness. Average body, as well as carb.

In short: A strange beer that does mix coffee and smooth IPA. Drinkable unusual beer
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed soon after we received it, but probably not super fresh because of long boat ride
The look: Partly cloudy golden-amber body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: Nose has orangy hops and notes of cold cup of black coffee. Taste is kind of hard to put into words. There is coffee for sure but it isn’t overwhelming, but still a lot more present than the 750ml of Tomahawk version I drank which had almost no coffee presence. Some malts, some coffee, orange juice, dirt, other stuff. Medium intensity bitterness which felt like half coffee-bitterness and half hops-bitterness. Strange after-taste. This is a strange beer, but one that sure didn’t bore me. I somewhat enjoyed it because it is unusual, but I wouldn’t want this to become a trend, because honestly coffee and IPA go together like blow jobs and bumper cars.

Bottle from a friend who got it at New Beer. Murky caramel color with nice head and lace. Grapefruity aroma with an underpinning of coffee beans. Mild fruity sweetness hint of tartness underlying coffee bean with nice assertive dry fruity hop finish. Medium mouthfeel with nicely assertive carbo. Excellent.

33 cl bottle @ home. Pours dark amber with a big off-white head that slowly fades leaving a lot of lacing. Aroma is citrusy hops and just a hint of coffee. Taste is hoppy with slightly bitter finish.
