COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Three Philosophers is a remarkable limited edition strong ale brewed by Brewery Ommegang in response to a home brewer’s description of his dream beer. Realbeer.com, the internet’s largest beer website, hosted a contest called “Create a Great Beer.” Brewery Ommegang was chosen by Realbeer.com to brew the Belgian-style ale for the winning essayist. Noel Blake, a home brewer from Portland wrote the winning description for what his “dream beer” would be like.

This is unbelievable! For 10% ABV this is smooth and complex, everything is so balanced. Cherries are very prevalent but once again not out of control. The rating speaks for itself, this is near perfection!! GET IT!

Poured a thick head with an amber appearance. Thin body that has a boozy taste towards the end. Very high carbonation. Not to much complexity or tastes that would make want to buy this beer again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep dark ruby red color with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of ripe fruits, some apricot, yeast, spices and dark berries. Flavor of sweet caramel, dried ripe fruits, dark malts, yeast, mild spice notes and wood. Mild sourish palate, strong carbonation, sweetish fruity finish. Mild alcohol comes through at the end. Pours brown with red hues. Whit head that lingers. Dark fruits, Belgian yeast, and chocolate blend to create a deliciously rich aroma. Like the smell, Dark fruit and chocolate dominate the taste. A bit of booze at the end. Silky smooth. Dry finish. I’m really impressed with this beer. I’ve loved everything I’ve had from Ommegang and this beer did not disappoint. It fully deserves it’s reputation.

Clove, pepper, and banana Belgian yeast aroma with a hint of malty sweetness. Medium to full body mouthfeel. Sweet molasses mixed with caramelized candi sugar. The high carbonation is almost effervescent. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Vintage 2011 12oz bottle served into a Duvel tulip. A - Pours a purple garnet with a thick creamy off white head that acts like it’s the Terminator. A solid 1/4" collar that stays forever. S - Sweet but tart cherries, bready yeast, brown sugar, rum alcohol, raisins, strawberries. T - Cherry and raisins bigtime. Sweet grapes, peaches, figs, strawberries, full and robust earthy malt, sugary bananas, wood M - Moderate carbonation, smooth feel, full bodied. This is fruit forward but everything really works together to create a well rounded Quad. Love the cherry presence, while a green banana flavor really adds a layer to the robust caramel malt. Tasted at mondial de la bière festival, in May 2013 in Montreal. The best one I tasted that day. It's sweet and tasty. I noticed some prune and fig flavor. Reminds me of some portos. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
