UPDATED: APR 30, 2012 Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow colour, which is almost white-like - a little unusual for me, but I like it,. Not a great aroma, tiny traces banana and hefe, a little sour. It’s taste is moderate, abut a little bit more GHW-like than its aroma: banana and some malt, and its a bit sour-bitter.

50 cl bottle from Doodler. Label looks like the picture on here. Nose is wheaty bready yeast, light banana, and a light clove note. Murky yellow with a medium pale yellow head. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly peppery, with a dash of banana.

I found this 50cl bottle at a great price in my neighborhood with a slightly different label than I could find here. The Grieskirchner ribbons are brown, there is a different city in the picture, and no mention of Jorger. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Aroma is what I expected from a German Hefeweizen: more malty than hoppy, and breadier than anything American. Taste is slightly bitter with just enough carbonation to keep things lively. Body is medium and mouthfeel is almost creamy. Finish is warm and satisfying with nothing foul at all.

Straw gold color on pour with decent lacing and average head retention. Earthy/grain tart/orange aroma. Light mouth feel decent carbonation. Earthy banana taste with gains on the last end.

Pours opaque pale orange with typical hefeweizen style head, great retention. Aroma is more tart, earthy, and apple-y than the traditional hefe aroma but banana and clove are still part of the character. Tastes a bit old; very grainy with little banana/clove character, somewhat toasty and biscuity. Body is light, frothy, active carbonation, grainy clovey finish. Overall, a bit weak.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2011 Mine is simply called Grieskirchner Weisse not Jörger. Looks a little hazy and more yellow than a witbier. Smell is a little aged lager. Fairly light on the palate. Even keel flavors that border on old but not quite get there. During the session gets more friendly. Somewhat unique tang in this one, just a tad tart. Some fine CO2 in the vision and on the tongue but fades almost instantly. Not your typical hefe has some of that old american lager flavor in there. Very little banana spice if any. Doughy something finish. On the label it says wit bier but yes, this is more like a gentle hefe.

Pours cloudy pale gold. Aroma is strong and of grain. Flavor is mostly all grain with an effervescent and slightly bitter finish. Light mouthfeel, even for a Weisse. Unexceptional, but at only $2 for the bottle, I’m not regretting it.

Cloudy straw yellow color with a soapy white head. Aroma of grass, lemon, and yeast. Flavor of lemon, grass, grain, and yeast. Decent beer.

wlajwl (1797) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - AUG 21, 2011
Wheat grain, lemons and yeast in the aroma. The flavor is very crisp and is grassy and also lemons, yeast and a hint of bananas. Apart from a very slight lean towards sourness, might be its an old bottle, this was very good.

bottle. cloudy gold. yeasty / estery nose (dried banana, yogurt, light herbs) with dough / dried hay / cereal grain malt. medium-light body, low bitterness, low acid, lightly phenolic. boring and dull, peaked and papery with burnt peanut shell notes.
