COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Speedway Stout is a HUGE Imperial Stout, with pounds and pounds of coffee added during conditioning for a little extra kick! This is a limited-edition Formula and it'll definitely get you racing! It is available in 750 ml. champagne bottles. Appearance: Jet Black, with a toast-brown head. Flavor: Starts with a strong coffee and dark chocolate sensation, then fades to a multitude of toasty, roasty and caramelly flavors. Finishes with a nice fullness but dry enough not to be cloying. Aroma: COFFEE! And some other stuff. And coffee. Mouthfeel (body/texture): Velvety smooth texture. Clean and crisp, full-bodied. Warmth from the high alcohol content lightens up the feel a bit. Still, you won't fool your taste buds -- this beer is HUGE!

Wow, finally get a chance to try this one. Have missed out on it on every previous occasion, but this time, I picked up four bottles from SB. Three for aging and one for a completely ordinary Tuesday. Pours pitch black with a thick, large tan (yet with a reddish hue) head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. Aroma is intense. Lots of coffee, heavily roasted malt, chocolate, a bit of licorice, oak wood. Taste is wonderfully complex and rich. Opens a bit sweet, almost with a hint of vanilla, before turning into a long very gently cocoa bitter middle part, before turning towards the sweet side with port tones in the massive finish. And what a finish, it just refuses to let go of your palate - the taste stays with you forever. Very alcohol warming. Low carbonation, full bodied and sort of creamy-oily. One of the best I’ve had.

This is probably the best beer I’ve ever had. A: is, chocolate, coffee , toffee. Ap.: pitch black with small tan head. T: chocolate, coffee, malt, toffee. P: sticky and just stays with, chocolate, roasty goodness. O: I would say this is the single best beer I’ve ever had.

Bottle (old rating). Black beer, brown head. No idea whether it’s hazy or clear. Heavy aroma of black coffee, with hint of sweet/sour soy-sauce and some (dutch) ’vetkrijt’. Initially sweet and bitter are in balance, but the bitterness increases quickly and ends in a roasty aftertaste with coffee, licorice and that soysauce-like umami taste. And alcohol, of course.

Bottle. Dark pour with tan head. Smells of dark malts, coffee and slight chocolate. Tastes of chocolate with a coffee and alcohol finish. Very well balanced stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 750ml bottle on 25/8/2014. Pours close to black with a medium tan head. Has a strong, quite sharp aroma of caramel, coffee, dark fruit and a touch of booze. While pleasant, the nose doesn’t scream necessarily scream ’world beater’. Thankfully, the flavour does. This is a sweet luscious beast where chocolate, both milk and dark, ultimately hold sway. But there is so much more going on in the background, with the coffee very noticeable, along with caramel, vanilla, a hint of toffee, and dates, raisins and plums. While a real sweet, dessert like experience overall, the bitterness is also present in spades, with both roasty and hoppy notes in the mix. The palate is sensational - creamy, velvety and lovely with soft carbonation. Ridiculously easy to drink for 12%, this is just a magnificent drop. Behind only Peche Mortel in terms of impys for mine, and only just. You know you’ve had something really special when you pay $35 for a bottle of beer and feel like it’s terrific value.

Bottle from a friend. Deep vanilla and coffee aroma, smells very good. Pours black with a medium brown head. Taste has coffee, vanilla and chocolates together wit some roasted malts. The palate is deep and oily. Overall a really nice beer which definitely lives up to the hype.

Champagne bottle. Wonderful aroma of coffee & malt. Hey black color with a tan head that fades quickly. Flavor is lots of coffee, malt, & roast. Very full bodied. Wonderful beer!

750ml bottle. Black or very dark brown with a foamy light brown head. Aroma seems pretty shy when awoken from slumber, but some coffee notes start to come forth, with dark malts and caramel behind. Taste is chocolate, vanilla, distinct but by no means overpowering coffee accent, and a minor hint of fruit. High marks for integrating the coffee so seamlessly. Superbly poised mouthfeel, thick but not cloying, and extremely drinkable for the strength. Great stuff.

(Draft at Brookland Pint in DC) Black body with a small, creamy brown head, good lacing. Full bodied, thick and creamy; feels "delicious". Aroma sweet, caramel, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and alcohol. Strongly sweet but not cloying, balanced with strong but not biting bitterness; coffee and chocolate; vanilla; hint of sourness; strong alcohol but not harsh; long finish. Stout is not my favorite style, but a great stout is a great thing.
