Speedway Stout’s ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beer’s dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stout’s fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Pours almost black, massive brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, other nice dark flavors. Heavy sweet, quite toasty and roasty, coffee. Nice oily texture and absolutely full bodied. A fantastic beer; it’s just perfectly balanced with nice aromas and flavors

Bottle, dated 4 months ago. Dark, virtually black pour with a brown head. Aroma is rich chocolate and roasted malts, toffee, some raisin as it warms and a boozy edge. Taste is thick, creamy chocolate and roasted malts, coffee, toffee, hints of dark fruits. A bit boozy, unsurprisingly as the bottle was fairly fresh. A bit sweet and not quite as balanced as some of the other top-level imperial stouts, but very tasty. This will improve beautifully with age, I’m sure.

Pours dark with a defined and thick foam head that sticks to my glass. The aroma is rich of dark malts, booze, hints of buttery toffee, and it has a smoked presence. There is also a medium intensity of coffee and chocolate. Tasting, I noticed a creamy texture with pleasant notes of bitter coffee, dark chocolate, loads of malted grains, and sugary caramel. The finish is very good. I enjoyed the fading booze taste that is replaced by the blended chocolate, malts, and bitter coffee flavor. Overall a solid beverage.

Bottled 04.04.2014. Aroma of coffee with soy sauce. Pours pitch black with tan head. Taste is very boozy, solvent-green apple like, there is not much something else. I think the cap was not airtight and beer has oxidized but it was not my fault. I have expected a great Imperial Stout and I wasted my money.

Pours dark almost Black. Head is Brown, thick and almost never vanishing. Nose is dark Dryed fruits raisin and liqurice. Rosted malt very dominant. Taste is rich some metal and very sweet. Creamy mouthfeel warming finish. Silght taste of alcohol and long residual stickyness in the mouth. Awesome but holy god 12% alc. That bottle is gonna kill me...

Smells like booze, chocolate, and soy sauce. Very low carbonation. Mouthfeel is semi-creamy and semi-foamy. Taste is alcohol, coffee with cream, some caramel, and dark chocolate. In that order. Aftertaste is long length. Starts off with alcohol taste and warmth. The alcohol taste goes away before the warmth does. After about ten seconds, the taste transitions from alcohol to coffee and dark chocolate.

Strong....very very strong. It's 12%. It's chocolatey and continues on into a soft, dark caramel finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a year and a half old bottle. Looks great in a glass. Nice tanned head. Smell - not that strong smelling. I am picking up a little bit of alcohol, some dark fruit, subtle coffee, not much to be honest. Taste - it’s a huge stout. The coffee has faded a bit, I’m actually a bit dissapointed in this. The alcohol does come through a lot. Not the smoothest to drink, and honestly not one of my favourite stouts.
