4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 scottw86 (906) - USA - NOV 13, 2011
Poured black like motor oil with a very thin tan head. Very interesting aroma with chocolate and coffee. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. Some vanilla and scotch too. Aroma is very nice and unique. Taste is like drinking coffee beans. Very roasted with lots of malty goodness. It is very rich and the balance is perfect. Alcohol is very well hidden. Aftertaste of sweet coffee and roasted malts. I think a lot of imperial stouts are over rated, but this lives up to the hype!

Pours very thick and velvetty. Jet black in color. There is no foamy head though and looks flat.
Smells of rich and roasted malts with coffe and vanilla some chocolate.
Taste is rich and complex with lots of roasted malts and black coffee. Hints of bittersweet chocolate works in perfect harmony.
Thick and heavy on the palette with a velvetty smooth flow.
Quite decadent and rich. A sipper.
At 12% ABV its almost an after thought. You won’t notice it until well into the aftertaste.
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Atom (689) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 29, 2012
750ml pours dark brown/black with a medium tan head. Aroma reminds me of malted milk balls with some soy. Taste is sweet chocolate, molasses, with a slightly bitter coffee and hops hitting just right after the sweetness subsides into bitterness with a dry roasted finish. Very nice approachable Imperial Stout!

Bottle. Pours clear black with a small brown head. Aroma is medium sweet roasted malt, chocolate, coffee with alcohol notes present. Taste is wonderful, dominated by chocolate, coffee and a warming finish from the alcohol.Thick and rich in the mouth. This is a big beer that deserves the hype around it.

Pours black with a medium tan four finger head. Smell is light coffee, roasty, chocolate, right amount of sweetness. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasty, grainy, creamy. A lot like Founders Breakfast Stout, but much more balanced. Very well carbonated, bit of a chalky mouthfeel, but easy to drink. Cool that I got to try it.

I don’t know what a 20 would be, but this is about a close as I have tasted. Chocolate and a little coffee on the noise. Pitch black color, not much head. Deep dark cocoa forecourt worth a hint of coffee. absolutely fantastic.

Shared by someone at the Monte’s Krown tasting yesterday. Pours a very deep black, solid, just a hint of red around the edges of the glass when held directly up against a lightbulb. 2 finger tan head. Notes off coffee, roast, chocolate milkshake in the nose. Taste is hoppy, coffee, chocolate. Very good.

Pours black as night with a small mocha head. Appearance is stunning!
Nose wafts of coffee and some chocolate malt. Taste is nothing but flavor, with strong coffee, espresso and slight licorice. Taste is also sweet with some bitterness that gives away. Finish is dry and sweet , a wonderful stout.
Don’t leave home without one in your frig. Amazing Imperial Stout, Quaff Score 9 / 10
