Speedway Stoutís ominous, pitch-black appearance has become a hallmark of this modern-day classic. Chocolate and roasted malts dominate the flavor, supported by notes of dark fruit, toffee, and caramel. A healthy dose of locally-roasted coffee from Ryan Bros. Coffee, Inc. added to each batch brings out the beerís dark chocolate flavors and enhances its drinkability. Despite its intensity, Speedway Stoutís fine carbonation and creamy mouthfeel make it very smooth and surprisingly easy to drink. This beer ages very well and will continue to mature for many years to come.

Thanks to the efforts of Adam at Platinum Cellars we are now able to experience some of the delightful beers that we could only dream of. Cost is irrelevant even though there is a serious kick to the kredit kard every time I visit. I enjoyed this with Dave and Steve, my two mates who now bow their heads and admit tht they too, are beer nerds. This was our last beer of the night where there were many great beers supped before this. But still a beautiful beer. Great coffee aromas with roasted malt and caramel. Thick as a triple espresso with a similarly coloured crema. A delighful blend of coffee flavours and well hopped bittereness being supported by a great malt roastiness. A fantastic nightcap.

Alesmith Speedway Stout - 750 ml a year or so old - holy cow what a powerful, delicous beer! Certainly loads up the rich tasty malts, creating a body that seems unique. The coffee is top notch and blends well with the roasty malts. Iíve wanted to try this for about ten years, and the ímuchnessí of Alesmithís beer-crafting makes their products extremely rewarding. I could envisage the barrel-aged version being even more mouth-coating, if thatís even possible. Iíd buy this version again.

Pours into a teku showing pitch black with very sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows a lot of espresso and roasted coffee beans. The palate is full bodied and evenly carbonated. From the start, there is a big mix of roasted coffee, espresso, cacao and dark chocolate with some hints of cappucino. A lot of dark flavors but still well balanced and a perfect pitch black coffee bitterness on the finish.

Near perfect stout. Black pour with tan lacing head. Aroma is fig, vanilla, mocha and licorice. Flavor is complex with vanilla and hops. Alcohol very evident on the palate. Some nice bitterness. Finish lasts for minutes!

Draught sample at CBC 2015. Pitch black with a small, tanned head. Roasted aroma with dark malts, chocolate, toffee, coconut, a hearty amount of coffee, vanilla and dark, dried fruits. Taste is sweet-roasted. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. Perfect. Lasting roasted finish with rich dark malts. World class Stout.

Pours dark black with a dark tan head. Nose is coffee, plum, dark chocolate, a little cough syrup. Flavor is lots of roast, plum, dark chocolate, a little cherry. Finish is a little sweet, a bit of burnt toast, lots of roasted coffee. Heavyz syrupy mithfeel. Mouth coating. Love it.

Bomber bottle poured a black hue w/ huge foamy lasting brown head and sticky lacing. Moderate sweet roasty aromas. Initial flavor is bold sweet w/ a moderate bitter finish. Tastes are coffee, dark toast, brown sugar and a non-descript boozy finish. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel and warm finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aromat: lekkie utlenienie, alkohol - to niebyt dobrze. Na szczęście zaraz po tym czekolada kawa, bardzo przyjemne. Do tego śliwki, wiśnie suszone. Paloność ograniczona. Brawa: czarna, nieprzejrzysta, nawet pod światło. Piana jasno brązowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, średniej wielkości i umiarkowanie trwała. Ładnie oblepia szkło. Smak: spora słodycz, niestety z akcentami miodowymi i wyraźnym alkoholem. Ziarna kakaowca, lekka kawa i paloność. Pod koniec także wyraźne melaoidyny, wręcz pumpernikiel. Goryczka powyżej średniej do wysokiej, wzmacniana przez ciemne słody. Pełnia krągła plus, umiarkowane wysycenie oraz wytrawny, kwaskowy i wyraźnie alkoholowy finisz, rozgrzewający przełyk. Gęsta i oleista konsystencja.

APPEARANCE - perfectly black. Light head, dissipates pretty quickly. NOSE - coffee, even when itís cold, and stays promenint as it warms. FLAVOR - thick and delicious. Rich flavors and mouthfeel, which is where this beer excels. Coffee and slightly bitter throughout. It tastes like it was aged when itís actually not. NOTES - excellent beer.
