4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Steve_0 (1255) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 5, 2012UPDATED: AUG 6, 2012 Bottle at home with friends courtesy of Dave. Thanks Man! Poured a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Dust, funk, horse blanket, light citrus, apricot, peach, and citrus. Taste is tart lemon peel, herbal, dust, basement, urine, sour and yeasty. Mouthfeel is medium with fizzy carbonation. Very well-balanced beer and I am glad I got to taste all of these side by side. Definitely the best beer of the seasons.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2013 Liek the others this is a nice herbal, tart, woody, funky blend. I think this one is the best though, such depth and complexity. Had it again and a huge pour of it. THe lemony but not extreme fruity sourness of this beer is divine.
4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 b3shine (2230) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 8, 2013
75 cl bottle to tulip, shared with the Mrs. while watching Michigan in the National Championship and rating #2000 (GO BLUE)! Looks perfect for the style; a hazy orange with lively carbonation and off-white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells great too; citrus, funk, dough, barnyard; even some cheese. Tastes like it smells with a nice mouthfeel. A phenomenal example of the style.

Bottled.
Amber color with rich frothy foam. Dry woody nose with hints of oaky vanilla, grapefruit and gentle phenols. Flavour is dry woody and grapefruity, with notes of goat cheese, gentle phenols, ripe green apple and oak. High acidity here. Musty mouthfeel. Almost puckering after due to the tannins and the dryness. Really complex.

Bottle, 03/19/2013, spring is almost here. Pours a russet color, cloudy, dense head settles to a thin layer of foam on the surface, tight curtains of lace. Aroma is tart green apple, pear, apricot, but funky notes dominate: very earthy and musty, horse blanket, dust, old wood. Taste is more balanced, superb: tart citrus notes, bitter grapefruit with tropical tilt, funky barnyard notes, tangy cheese, good amount of oak in the finish. Light, creamy palate, smooth carbonation, quaffable. Quite a treat.

Sampled at the CCB/RateBeer/Pre-Hunah Tasting (Tampa, FL). Pours a well hazed golden amber pour, decent haziness. Good golden glow on the edges. A frothy offwhite head layers well. Aromas are a bit tart, apple and pear, some bready malts, straw, oak, firm funkiness. A bit sweeter on the nose and girthy. Initial is more tart, lemon and crab apples, some oak, touches of bready malts, straw, some oak. Gentle. Richer sourness, oaky, richer flavors. Middle is toasty, a bit dry and straw ridden. Some nice flavors. Sour flavors, melon and crab apple. Some lemons, well carbonated and a bit prickly. Nice flavors, sourness grows into the backend and finish. Tasty. Grows into back and finish, bretty, oak, wet. Very well put together, some more intense and enjoyable distinct flavors. My favorite of the four.

Bottle (750 ml) @ an Armand’4 tasting. Huge thanks to David for sharing this gem! Hazy golden/orange with a nice small white head and beautiful lacing. Aroma is agressive and really complex with tons of tropical fruits, typical 3 Fonteinen funky notes, barnyard, peppery and lemony notes. Taste is really fruity too (mostly peaches and apricots), barnyard, good tartness and sour presence with some peppery notes here too. Fizzy carbonation. It leaves the mouth dry. This Gueuze is awesome, my favorite of the Armand’4. Incredible balance and freshness, wonderful complexity and nice drinkability. A true masterpiece from the master himsel!
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 mathieuc (275) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 27, 2013
Bottles (all 4!) shared by Tommy and David, thanks! This one is glowing golden, with only the slightest haze. The big white head on top of it make it a really sexy drink. Upfront the aroma is a big brett bomb, with the usual aromas of lambics (horseblanket and everything). In fact, this is the most aggressive of the seasons according to all the people that were present. Acidity level is medium, quite a classy drink really. Flavors are of apricots and various sour-ish juicy fruits. Great one!
