4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Tasted 7/8/11. 22oz bomber. #51/165. Thanks to phaleslu for sharing! Pours dark and pitch with a trace tan head. Aromas of earthy, vegetal notes with a smokey malt aspect. Burnt marshmallows and a good dose of peppers. Full bodied and hot with a big palate. Odd, yet surprisingly rounded. The peppers and the heat are apparent, but they blend decently with the barrel aging. Good heat, good body and nicely blended. It got the silver from the series.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle - Vintage 2013 - Molasses, chilli peppers and dark roast coffee. Jet black with almost no head. Sweet barrel notes, sticky sweet and a nice flavourful chilli that adds heat on the throat. Too big and bold, no balance just a ton of flavor.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
5/26 - My goodness this was a fine fine beer. Fine enough for me to post a rating for the first time in years on RateBeer!
Of course it’s black and oily with essentially no head. It’s hard to say if there was any carbonation - I think there was some, but the perhaps that was an alcoholic sparkle!
There was no alcoholic burn or unpleasant presence, much to my later chagrin.
The aroma was beeaaautiful! Chocolate and baked cherry, bourbon, and prune and coffee and peppers all in one!
The taste was similar, layers of malt, chocolate, coffee, bourbon sweetness, fruits, and gorgeously balanced with the spiciness of the chili, which was warming and flavorful but not domineering at all.
Very round thick mouthfeel.
I was surprised that I decided to open it for as lowly an event as my birthday, but I did, and it was wonderful. And I got sick with glory.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
1st May 2014
Mikkeller Vik. Orange waxed bottle with a black and white ’Muerte’ sticker on the cap and clearly printed Moscatel on the side. Apparently a cock up and this Is Bourbon Muerte. Three Floyds tap takeover. Bottle share with loadsa Ratebeerians! Opaque black - brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is surprisingly light. Mild fine carbonation. Sweet dark malts, a fruity vibe on top. The chilli starts to itch but it’s not overwhelming and provides a nice counterpoint to the sweet dark malts. Light finish. Sweet heat!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From notes from the beer dinner @ Mielcke & Hurtigkarl. Aroma is dominated by green chili, dark fruits, red berries, dark caramel, caramelized almonds, brownies. On the palate this motherfucka is all kinds of crazy - intense chili making it very hot, a lot of sweet, sugary notes, chocolate, caramel. You think the sweetness becomes WAY too much, but then the chili kicks in and supplies this beer with a ballsack the size of Quasimodo’s hunch. Truly intense, but, in the end, good. END NOTE: Thanks to Kermis, I got to try a bit yesterday evening, and I have to say that it mellowed out quite nicely - the chili had already faded quite much, making it even smoother, but still balanced by the chili. Didn’t score it this time, but it probably would’ve been higher.
