4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2011 vintage. 12oz bottle into a tulip.
Pours a thick opaque black like used motor oil. Really no head at all and just a thin ring around the top of the beer.
Aroma of is rich coffee and chocolate like a cappuccino. Some roasted character along with caramel and toffee. Also a touch of vanilla; a very inviting aroma.
The flavor is even better. Coffee and caramel up front along with a hint of whipped cream and brown sugar. Some espresso roast and bitterness compliments the sweetness perfectly. Some vanilla and maple syrup comes in but everything leads to a moderately dry, coffee-like finish. Mouthfeel is full and slick but it is never too sweet.
Overall, an absolutely world-class beer. So full of flavor and extremely drinkable. I really wish I would have gotten more than just a four pack and I need to try to get some more of this while I can.

Good beer although Iíve had it so many times that Iíve grown tired of it till next year. Lay this one on itís side for 6 months and youíll be glad you did. A few months on this beer does amazing things for itís mixing of flavors. Try it fresh and age some and then thank me later for the advice.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Style: Imperial Stout
Purchased at: Brotherís Market; Lisbon, IA
Pour: Thick brown/black pour with a brown head.
Aroma: Wonderful aroma of rich coffee and chocolate with roasted malts.
Flavor: Definitely a full-bodied stout. A ton of coffee and chocolate flavor with the roasted malt rounding it out nicely.

My recommendation: A go to seasonal for sure. Like I said above, you still could possibly find some on the shelves and itís the perfect time to stock on a few four packs. A must try brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle courtesy of Homer321. Pours black with a nice tan head that sticks around for just the right amount of time. Aromas are coffee, coffee and more coffee then some chocolate finished off with a nice roast malt undertone. Flavors are reminiscent of a great cup of black coffee, with bitter coffee notes then just a dash of rich cream and finally more coffee this time more similar to coffee grounds. Palate is very nice, though not as thick as I supposed it would be, which suits this beer better than a hugely thick beer would. Overall this is a very nice example of a breakfast stout, just enough coffee, not much to detract from that flavor and not overwhelmingly heavy.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12oz. bottle with a little head. Tastes strongly of dark chocolate and strong coffee. Oatmeal is hard to find, but there. Look forward to enjoying again.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours cola black with a small tan head. Aroma is espresso and dark chocolate all day with a little hint of tobacco. Taste is sweet espresso up front with a chocolatey mid palate and a smooth malt finish. Everything is well balanced and pairs well with shortbread cookies, guitars, beautiful women and fireworks.

Bottle. Black with a small light brown head light lacing head. Aroma is dominated by coffee and chocolate with some burnt/hard roasted notes beneath. Light ashy and has a very light acidic touch. Taste is light/medium sweet and bitter. Medium body, oily/creamy texture, soft+ carbonation. Light dry finish with long lingering coffee and roasted notes. No noticeable alcohol and easy to drink.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Zeebra Extreme Beer Festival - Itís interesting how the intense coffee bitterness moves around the palate. Obviously coffee flavours are quite dominant. It does have an unusual almost savoury element to it though.
