COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Armandí4 Herfst Oude Geuze is a blend of 1, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, brewed, aged, blended and bottled by Armand Debelder. This one-time and possibly the last bottling comes in a fancy Asti Spumante Champagne bottle. Armand only used Challenger hops in this brew. Heís in fact the only lambic-brewer to use Challenger hops to make his Geuze. 60 % malted barley, 40 % wheat, aged hops and water. Each seasonís geuze has an unique and different blend.

750 ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy dark golden amber with small white head that has good retention and leaves a decent amount of lacing. The aroma super musty with mushroom, lemon, light apple, apricot, a hint of grapefruit, earthy funkiness, and oak. Quite awesome. The taste has a light sweetness. There is mushroom, apricot, lemon, a funky earthiness, forest floor. Tart, but not really sour. The finish is funky with more mushroom and apricot. Relatively light bodied with a slightly fluffy mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Another amazing blend from Armand. This isnít quite as good as lente and was slightly more enjoyable than winter. It is probably between lente and winter in sweetness. The mouthfeel was good, but not quite as nice and fluffy as lente. If lente didnít exist I probably would have rated this higher. 10.4.9.4.19

I figure a random Wednesday while watching Property zbrothers is the perfect time for a brew like this, no? Found this bottle on a shelf while in Paris. Poured 1/28/2015. Dated 2/4/2010, so almost exactly 5 years old. Poured to a Cantillon taster glass and shared with no one because eff it. Pours mostly clear with just a hint of hazyness, beautiful copper golden with a big fluffy white head. Dusty oaky aroma, sweet Belgian sugar notes, funky sourness, some vinegar. Yep, smells like goooooooze. Flavor is sweet malty caramel and major sour funk. Wow, the sweetness here is heavier than others in the style Iíve had but balances just perfectly with the funky, dry, oaky, vinegary sourness. Some grass in here, not super dry and dusty, even some juicy fruitiness going on. Some apricot notes, lingering sweetness and dry on the tongue. Mouthfeel is juicier than most in the style with a dry oaky finish and medium plus carbonation. Very easy drinking but packed with flavor and not lacking in any respect. One of the most flavorful Gueuzes in a style that is sometimes tough to differentiate. This one separates itself from the pack with a beautiful balance between sweet and sour. Nicely done.

Golden with white head. Aroma is amazing! Perfume and the best of brett together. Funk, citrus, lavender, spice, earth, plums and white grapes. Very fruity and highly carbonated palate. Aftertaste is fruity, citrus, white grapes, some tartness, dry and some noble hop dry finish. Overall: amazed!!! Perfect!

Bottle at Delirium Cafe on NYE!

Rich, enveloping, funky aroma. Two full fingers of head stick around until the very end.

Over-carbonated initially; settles into a nice mouthfeel after about 10 minutes of timeout. Citric, funkadelic, dry, barnyard goodness all up in my palate. Mellowed out noticeably since release. Really fucking good.

Pours unclear sunny amber with a huge creamy head and great lacing. Aroma is delicious sweet Belgian candi sugar. Sweet yeast and light tart notes are so pleasantly enjoyed and balanced on the tongue settling perfectly for a while on the palate.

Bottle shared with my wife. Cloudy orange colour, creamy white foam. Lively carbonation. Fruity aroma with hints of green apple and citrus. Tart with dry finish. Refreshing and very well balanced. Very good geuze!

Compared with the Summer - Bottles shared by Armand, Michael & Lydie. Summer pours cloudy light orange with a good steady head. Very subtle funk nose, nice oaky touches. Silky smooth body, full mouthfeel, incredible balance. Taste is fine malts, soft funk and a lot of soft oak. Herfst is a tad darker in colout and more vibrant in the nose; some more citrus and fruity esters. A bit more carbonation makes this excellent lambic more lively and fresh, but ever so marvelous.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy dark orange colour with a beige head. A bit fruity aroma of oak, forest floor, rowanberries, horse, citrus and banana. The flavour has more citrus, wood and hints of cardamom. Has a slick and dry mouth feel. A balanced and complex gueuze. Perfect sour level.

Bottle: Thanks, Doug. Bright orange & slightly burnt amber body, cloudy with some translucency & a bubbly beige head on top that quickly sifts down into a foamy collar. Aroma of funky, sweaty lemon flesh, stone fruit skins, moderately acidic peaches, moldy cork, musty barnyard stalls, wet horse, a touch of caramel, soft grassiness, & a strong earthy presence throughout. Deliciously tart flavor, as expected, but not as sour or tart as Armandís other blends. Tons of funk (also as expected) in the form of musty cork, dirty basement floor, mild cobweb, old driftwood. Big-time earthiness is even stronger on the palate; notes of mushroom & damp forest floors. Acidity kicks up a bit towards the finish with some lemon rind, green apple skins, white grape, sharply tannic wet oak & a mineral water finish. Reminds me of a less "bright" & more earthy version of Lente. Still get some of that nice saliva enduing lemon flesh & stone fruit zest but with much deeper undertones from front to back.

Agrumati aceto frutta. Acida quanto basta ma non persistente. Tannica. Leggermente astringente.
