(on tap at Akkurat) Deep (almost black) ruby colour. Small head. Sweet aroma with notes of raisins; smells like Port Wine. Flavour is tar, sweet raisins, salty licorice and warming alcohol. Tastes like the missing link between fortified wine and imperial stout and it really works.

5-26-12 bottled on 9-21-11, 1216 of 4400. Pours a dark bubbly with little head. Steady bubbles. Tastes a lot like a port wine. Cherry notes with licorice. Overall, very nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Blairgus (1189) - California, USA - MAY 26, 2012
26 may 2012, bottle. Dark ruby, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is heavy port, slightly meaty. Med body and moderately fizzy. Very much like a port. Not as much alcohol taste or body. Faintly oaky, especially in dryness. Raisins and port with faint wood. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to crusianbeer for bringing this beer back from the UK. The beer pours a very dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma is full of chocolate and oak, with some peat malt thrown in. The flavor is more complex and better that the aroma in my opinion. I get a lot of peat and cherries, as well as some roasted malt, chocolate and alcohol. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Rettep (977) - SWEDEN - MAY 14, 2012
#2599/4400. Pours like cola: dark brown with a fizzy head that dissolves straight away. Aroma: honey, liqueur, chocolate, licorice; a sweet one. Taste: honey, chocolate, a hint of red wine, some licorice, cocoa, some dried fruit, maybe some kind of spice. No whisky apparent. Full-bodied, low carbonation. Very tasty, not very experimental, very easy to like.

375 ml bottle shared by bsuedekum- thanks again, Blake! Bottled 27.09.11, number 1213/4400. Pours a dark brown-amber color with absolutely no head. Aroma of wood, peat, caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, and sweet and dried fruits. Flavor of woody booze, plums, peat, brown sugar, caramel, and toffee. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sticky, fruity mouthfeel. Good Scotch ale.

Gr0ve (1875) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAY 5, 2012
375 ml bottle. Dark brown and clear. Small light beige fine-laced head. Rich caramel and raisin aroma. Fairly low carbonation level. Sweet grainy malts. Salty licorice flavours. Anise and toffee. Very complex. Body is surprisingly light, but the flavours are not. Excellent.

Bottle 375ml @ Patricks Pub og Restaurant, Kristiansand
Pours deep ruby brown with a light tan head. Aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, butterscotch, cocoa, alcohol and roasted malt. Taste is heavy sweet and light bitter with a long rosted malt, sweet toffee, alcohol finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Foffern (285) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 4, 2012
Bottle shared with (and great courtasy of) the fantastic Bergen tasting crew with such stars as ClubGonzo, Inbreak and Palme, and the mighty StoreMy. The colour is clear and deep reddish brown with a very small beige head. The aroma is wonderful and sweet with a touch of leather, dried fruit, prunes, brown sugar, nuts, and a faint hint of alcohol. Interestingly taste of dried fruit, spices, berries, wood, oak, and gives a nice alcohol warmth to the end. The beer feels smooth and almost silky in the mouth, and the bitterness is at a medium level. A great beer with a good balance in its flavour and aroma.

27-APR-2012, bottle @home, from "Ølbutikken". Dark Brown and clear with low beige head of big bubbles. Lovely roasted and bourbon nose with Camilla and lak. Taste the same. More bourbon than whiskey. Long alcoholic taste with sweet roast in the form of licorice and coffee. Medium Body and carb. Long sweet and peaty aftertaste. Nice.
