COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During the fermentation of the first batch of this Abbey-style dubbel, the yeast «died» and was «resurrected» by brewer Chris Cashell. This beer is not unlike those that certain Belgian monks have been brewing since the 16th century. Made with five types of barley malt and lots of sugar, this beer is quite strong and flavorful, without being too sweet.

Had this on tap a while back, but it was so cold I couldn’t taste anything. Now that I’ve got a bottle at cellar temperature I can rate it and appreciate it - and I do appreciate it. Perfect pour - hazy medium brown color with a huge billowing head. Nice lacing inside the glass. Aroma of Belgian yeast, bread, and spices. Taste is bread, spice, yeast and sugar. No alcohol in the taste or aroma. Slightly bitter, flavorful finish. This beer is well-balanced and very drinkable. Outstanding.

Poured from can. Smells like bananas, yeast, and a slight nutty aroma. Poured an amber color with a big off white head. Taste is a lot like the smell, kind of sweet and a slightly boozy burn to it. I recommend drinking this one as cold as possible because the taste really degrades as it gets warmer. Not a bad canned beer.

Bottle @ Wasana’s Winter Beer Tasting 2012! Thanks Jonas!!! In the glass dark amber colored. Smells very yeasty, combined with a little hop aroma and citrus. Starts very yeasty, paired with fine malt flavor and a little citrussy hops. The middle part is also dominated by the yeast, along with some caramel and sugar. Goes into a yeasty-malty finish with nuances of aroma hops!

Heller, wenig hefiger Beginn. Hefig bleibend, sonst eher laff, hellmalzig, mild, süffig. Gut trinkbar. 11/11/11/11/8/11

12 oz. can. Aroma has a lot of sweetness and yeastiness, but is not very distinct. Taste has some interesting combinations of flavors. Has the yeast of a Belgian white, the spice of a German Hefeweizen, and the booze of and American malt liquor. Not really sure what they were going for with this one, but it is most certainly not an Abbey Dubbel. Overall a decent but flawed beer, but very sessionable.

This beer is delicious, pours a dark brownish color with a very malty/sugary flavor. Very flavorful but still well balanced by hops.

one of the first beers i had when i started down this craft beer journey back in 2002... glad to see brewer’s art contracting with slyfox to get this bad boy bottled... A: rich mahogany-amber-brown body... massive light khaki head... great retention and sheets of lacing S: soft, muted dark fruits, caramel T: a more robust version of the nose, with addition of prominent yeast tones and sweet candied sugar M: smooth... a tad pedestrian, but no complaints... good carbonation to complement the massive head O: enjoyable, delicious, nostalgic
