Bottle to glass at the Birch. Pours a slightly hazy light amber color with a light tan head. Aroma is a bit strong, hot, malty, molasses, toffee. A bit more mellowed out in the flavor, lots of toffee, caramel, vanilla, still a touch of booze. Overall a very nice beer, just needs some time.

Poured a nice medium Amber with no head. Surprisingly soft nose. No lace in the glass. In the mouth, it is quite hot and would normally be unpleasant but I expected this and accepted it. The ABV is very evident.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden amber color, with minimal head and lacing. Aroma is pretty substantial of sweet malt, candy, banana and other fruit, as is really nice. Flavor is much drier than anticipated from the aroma. Subtle flavors that are mostly fruit and alcohol. I find this one hard to describe since the malt is not jumping out at me, and there is a lack of complexity. To me the best description is fruity without being sweet. It took me a while to warm up to this one, but in the end I did enjoy it, although it does leave me wanting more from it, especially at over $16/bottle.

Not clear about the biochemical alchemy needed to turn El Dorado hops into liquid butterscotch. But Brynildson’s got the chops to do it. You’d swear this is an adjunct beer made with Enstrom toffee after somebody ate the chocolate off.

Draught @ Pizza Port Carlsbad, Carlsbad, CA

Pours orange with a small head. Aroma of hops, sweet toffee, caramel, syrup, malts, wood, oak, bourbon, vanilla, honey and hints of spices. Taste is smooth, sweetish and complex with loads of flavors. Hops, honey, caramel, toffee, syrup, wood, oak, vanilla, bourbon, grass and earthiness. Finish is sweetish and complex. Loads of flavor here. Alcohol is well hidden. Tasty.

I have been waiting to try this beer for some time. Unfortunately, it is next to impossible to find in this part of the country. Love FW and I was not disappointed in this creation. The aroma when the bottle was opened set the table. The pour was smooth and left a golden brew to ponder. The taste knocked your socks off. Good kick with absolutely no bite. Very smooth beer with an excellent aftertaste. This has jumped into the top two with this brewer for me. Highly recommended.

Draught @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad, CA. Pours a deep amber orange colour with a small foamy head. Aroma of apricot jam, vanilla, oak and white bread. Flavour of heavy sweet toffee, oak, heavy bourbon, plums, grassy bitterness, white bread and coconut milk. Full bodied. Very complex. I could sit an hour with a glass of this beer.

Tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad.
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Vanilla on the nose, hops, caramel, pale malts, ripe fruits and toffee. Toffee flavor, alcohol comes through, ripe fruity notes, caramel sweetness. Heavy, gpu body, alcohol comes a bit too much. Nice still.
