Bottle, much thanks to Dan for bringing to Dave’s. Pours out black with a small tan head. Aroma is of chocolate, coffee, mild roast, oak, whiskey and some hot alcohol. Taste is complex, light coffee, mild syrupy sweetness, wood, roast, bourbon, and a lingering sweet/roasty/boozy note. Solid and complex, would like to have it again.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
10 ounce sample on tap at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma has lots of sweet chocolate maltiness. Slight anise, too. Not much else. Fairly quaffable. Opaque black body with a medium light tan head. Fair lacing. This beer is really full of burnt roasted coffee flavors. Pretty dry. Mildly sweet later. Ethanolic finish. I respect this beer for not being ridiculously sweet and cloying, but it’s pretty dry, one dimensional and boozy.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2015 1/7/15 draft @ Ale Arsenal. Pugachev’s Cobra proves to continue to be one of the best barrel-aged stouts. Plenty of bourbon, vanilla, caramel notes in the nose. Palate is evident of the higher ABV this year, alcohol forward with nice roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, and bourbon. I could drink this all day, were it not for the 18.9% ABV.

Bottle. black of course not much foam. Bourbon nose, cherry. Same notes apply to flavor, alcohol is more forward but subdued considering the huge ABV. Roast char. Intense, dry, my kind off stout. Best Hangar beer I have had by far.

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep brown to black color with little to no head, thin rim of light brown head. Aroma is a potent boozy bourbon character, molasses, syrup. Flavor has a huge molasses bourbon burn that lingers long into finish. Huge body. Huge beer.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20
750 bottle. Black pour hardly any head. Wonderful aromas of chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon. Very smooth blend of some of the same flavors. Chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, along with dark fruits and a licorice in the background. Overall all is well blended and smooth. Flavors are strong, and well blended together. Burn in the finish, no surprise. No ageing required. Lucky to get this one, enjoy all of Hangar 24’s beers.

Via trade with Ataraxia The aroma is bourbon, chocolate, molasses. The appearance is deep black, quickly disappearing tan head. The flavor is bourbon, chocolate, molasses, licorice. The finish is boozy, pine. Medium in body, slightly thick Too thin for a impy stout. Very enjoyable all the same.

Bottle shared by savnac at Anchorage Dec ’14 Tasting: Poured a black brown with a ring of light brown head. Aroma was strong mix of dark fruit, licorice, bourbon, boozy and oak. Taste is complex with bourbon, dark fruit, vanilla, roasted and sweet malts. I wish they distro’d to Anchorage because I have never been displeased with any Hangar 24 beers.
