Received in a trade but I forget who was awesome enough to send me this bottle. I’ll update if I remember. Either way, thanks alot! This bottle was shared with AndyReynolds and Ewestern.
I had read many mixed reviews before acquiring this bottle, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect going into it. However, it took nothing more than the first sip to shatter the idea of any negativity surrounding this brew. Pretty much straight up awesome in every aspect. The combination of the four base stouts really lends to a unique complexity. I know it doesn’t contain any Kate the Great, but as I drank my glass, that’s what it really reminded me of. It seemed to have a lot of that chocolate graham cracker and roasted malt quality that I remember from my KtG sample a few years ago.

I fell victim to the hype and love this beer.

Bottle, pours black with tan head. Aroma is rich roast, coffee, light dark fruits. Taste is surprisingly roast and balanced, well done

Bottle share at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell on 30 Jun 2012. Poured black, with a thin tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, liquorice and alcohol soaked dark fruits. Thick, full mouthfeel. Strong flavours of coffee, treacle and some smokiness. Finish was dates, burnt malt, cocoa and port.

Are these blends a bit gimmicky? I don’t care - i bought into the hype. Great mix here with lots of dark fruit, booziness and some faint cocoa notes. A lot of licorice here which I wasn’t expecting. It’s held up well though.

Bottleshare thanks to DrewFace! Pours black, almost no head. Aroma is raisin, toffee, burnt sugar, more sugar. Taste is sweet, sugar, burnt toffee, bitter is hell.

Sweet, malty, boozy, chocolate, grainy, with more sweet and boozy. Dark thick pour, brown head. Sweet, boozy, malty and grainy, very rich. Decent amount of alcohol heat.

Bottle shared by dectercat. Lots of rich chocolate and deep yummy. Lightly bitter. Full mouthfeel. Taste is really just complex. I feel dumber for drinking this. Lots of dark cocoa. Coffe. Really gut.

Pours black with a big beautiful brown head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roast, coffee and espresso. Lovely to taste that Dark Lord is not overwhelming all other beers, nice balance. Sweet from Dark Lord, coffee from Beer Geek Brunch. Lovely stuff. Maybe the alcohol is a bit too present.

22 ounce bottle. Pours black with a decent tan head. Nice aroma of malt, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, vanilla, spice, and a touch of alcohol. This bottle seemed to hold it’s age well. Very nice.

Black with a brown head. Aroma has nice roast, malts, espresso. Coffee is obvious but well balanced with loads of roastyness. Totally surprised that the overpowering sweetness of Dark Lord has been toned down. Very nice

Black pour with a tan head. The aroma is a mix of chocolate and roasted malt with some huge coffee character. The flavor is very similar. I get some heavy coffee as well as some chocolate, roasted malt and cream. There is also some nice vanilla character as the beer warms up. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This stout has it all. Excellent.
