Commercial Description:
You want bitter? You got it! Very malty with a strong roast barley flavour. Black as pitch and so thick you could just about eat it with a spoon. An excellent stout.

Full black body with nice tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee. Taste of roasted malts with coffee and chocolate notes. Bitter and dry finish. A typical stout that was pretty good, if not exceptional.

(bottle, 37.5cl) Black coloured hue with a brown medium-sized foamy head. Mildly sweet roast-malty aroma with notes of chocolate, candy, liquorice and leather. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, full bodied with a smooth and slightly oily mouthfeel. Roasty malty and subtle fruity taste with notes of chocolate, liquorice, mocha and a tinge of molasses; sweet and mildly roast-bitter finish with a moderate duration. A hearty and tasty Stout. 24.XII.09

375mL bottle. Pours an opaque black with a thick, frothy brown head that slowly diminishes to a ring. Unsurprisingly for Coopers there is a lot of sediment - large pale brown chunks that settle at the bottom of the glass. Aroma is malty, roasty and subtle hints of chocolate. Taste is more of the same, with a light sweetness and mild bitterness. Medium bodied and creamy with a dry finish.

Nahh, not so good ... Its too watery, and thin ... no real chunk going on here.

Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt & coal. Black body and a strong taste of roasted malt and a bit bitter at the end. An excellent beer

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a medium-dark brown head. Aroma is of roasty malts with perhaps a little coffee. Flavor is roasty coffee-chocolate with a smoky, roasty aftertaste. Thick and delicious. Excellent beer.

Bottle. Opaque and thick-looking but pours with surprisingly little head. Might be the hotel glass to blame. Aroma is coal, chocolate. The palate is fizzy but has good drinkability. Decent coffee flavors, dark chocolate, dry earthy finish. Simple but good malt flavors. Comes just short of having burnt flavors. Slight fruity tang too.

375ml Bottle: Very faint aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Poured black in color with a small to medium-sized, tan/light brown head that greatly diminished but lasted around the edges. Opaque. Not sparkling. Full of large particles throughout. Flavor is slightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, slight cream, and a hint of caramel. Medium body. Dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Chocolate, roasted malt, and slight caramel finish is dry.
