Alaska’s Most Wanted Series.

First brewed as part of our 2011 World Tour series, MOSCOW Rye Russian Imperial Stout is a hefty, opaque black liquid that pours slowly and soulfully into your snifter. A high percentage of spicy rye and roasted dark malts create a dense, chewy yet elegant winter wonderland of flavors. And from AK we say: Let it Snow…in Moscow.

Had this on tap at Humpy’s just before the 2012 GABBF (what an amazing "breakfast" beer!). Colour... as black as the singularity of a black hole, with a thick, dark tan head. Nose... lightly smoky and brimming with dark chocolate, booze, wet earth and charred bacon. Palate... chewy, coating, dry, oaky and ashen with loads of bittersweet chocolate, a heaping helping of booze and a deep, dark broodingly tannic feel with anise and black strap molasses at the back of the palate. This is one of MSBC’s finest pieces of zymurgistic art!

Mar 2016 - Bottle share at Canary Wharf as Midnight Sun Moscow. Many thanks to Leighton for the rare Alaskan beer. Black with a small foamy brown head, dotted lacing. Aroma is molasses, chocolate syrup, booze. Body is smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is earthy, chocolate, metallic, booze, dry and earthy bitterness to finish. A nice, dry, earthy imperial stout. Plenty to like but just a little rough around the edges and boozy. (3.7)

Bottle shared on the 42nd floor - picked up at New Beer Distributors in NYC. Pours oily black with a dense, tight brown cream head. The nose holds well roasted malts, cocoa, light age, scorched earth. Medium sweet flavor with a lot of ashy wood, bitter dark chocolate, brown sugar, earth, leather. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with average carbonation. Lightly warming finish plenty more bitter dark chocolate, burnt earth, woody dryness, hints of dried dark fruits. Really good stuff. It’s got a hard edge to it.
