COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout
"2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts"
Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Smooth stout with a dark pour with about an inch of head. Taste is heavier than most milk stouts with a layer of chocolate at the middle to end.

Very dark brown with a sudsy beige head and plenty of lacing. Mild aroma of chocolate milk and coffee. Taste is roasty with nice chocolatey bitter and sweet flavors. Medium-full bodied. Fairly one dimensional, but definitely enjoyable.

From 355 ml bottle. Pours a deep black with a tan head that collapses pretty quickly. Aromas of coffee, cocoa nibs, plums and light hops. The taste is similar but with more fruit at the front end, particularly raisin. Chocolate notes come in at the end. True to style, there?s a smooth sweetness in the finish with a light chocolate aftertaste. Very nice.

Pours a dark brown with little head that dissipates quite fast. Aroma is malty chocolate and alcohol. Body is quite full with a roasted taste but with a sweet backing and a slight alcoholic taste. It’s quite strong and the alcohol can eventually overwhelm the taste, but it’s still a great double stout!

Pours a solid dark brown/black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates to a ring on top. Smells of light roast, chocolate, and caramel with hints of vanilla and light fruit. The flavor is roasty and smokey with lots of chocolate and caramel as well as vanilla and dark fruits. Wow I wasn’t expecting such a complex flavor based on the aroma. Medium body with a moderate level of antiabortion and a sweet almost sugary mouthfeel. Nice stout, I’m glad I picked one up the other day.

Bottle, bit of a low fill line. Nose is luscious chocolate and mocha, pours dark brown-black with a dense and rocky light brown head. Taste is semi-sweet with rich and attractive roast, chocolate, lactose. Smooth medium-full body with no real sourish tang but just a touch of etoh showing. Solid all-around starting shortstop, perhaps an all-star here and there but falls short of the HOF.

Serving: from bottle--purchased at Full Throttle Bottles. Aroma: light, chocolate, malt aroma. Appearance: large, rocky, light-brown, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Dark-brown/black body. Taste: lightly sweet and chocolatey initial flavor and lightly bitter and smokey finish with average duration. Palate: medium bodied with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Overall: excellent. I’d like to try it from the tap.

Bottle: Two fingers of creamy tan head sits atop a very dark brown pour. The nose is straightforward enough with heavy roast and chocolate... it sets the tone for dry roastiness and hints of bittersweet cocoa. Tastes dry and roasty, as the nose suggests, and rich with baker’s chocolate. Finishes dry and roasty with a little floral hop bitterness. Now available locally so I’ll surely pick this up again.
